I've send out some emails. Even if my country officially opposes, it only does by 3 members. Let's push the rest to also publicly oppose it, and let them bring it up to those around them.
I used my private email, so I can receive and read any replies send back. I don't expect much, but still curious.
You can generate and send a message to your MEPs with:

🤖 Most people still treat AI chatbots like a private confessional, but they aren’t. 😳 Every question is logged, stored, and potentially discoverable, sometimes even after you’ve deleted it. OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic all retain user prompts by default, often under the guise of “memory” or “service improvement.”
And here’s the kicker: a federal court order now forces OpenAI to preserve all ChatGPT conversations, including “Temporary” ones users assumed were erased. So the notion of ephemeral chats is gone. That should change how people think about what they type into these systems.
The bigger issue is that the line between “helpful personalization” and “permanent surveillance record” is blurring fast. What looks convenient today could look like an exposure tomorrow.
TL;DR
⚠️ AI queries are logged
🔐 Deleted chats still saved
🧠 “Memory” is default setting
📂 Court orders enforce retention

The U.K. government heard your pleas for more A.I. in policing and is proud to introduce A.I. to detect cases of pre-crime! Predictive models will be trained on totally unbiased data "including crime incident databases, socio-demographic data sources, and online behavioural data platforms", dispatching cops to the scene of the pre-crime for speedy pre-arrests!

Every EU representative who is in favor of chat control should be seen as a traitor to the people they are supposed to represent, a traitor of european values and a high risk criminal.
After all, they won't be surveilled at all under that law.
As europeans we have a history of mass surveillance by oppressive governments, and it is our responsibility to never let that happen again!

Actually, I have an awful lot to hide.
Not because I am a criminal or a tax-evading billionaire, but because I'm a human being.
I am more than just a data mine. I refuse to be reduced to a source of digital commodities. I refuse to be valued at anyone's ad-revenue.
I have a right to decide what others should know about me. And I have a right to know what they will do with what they know.
That's why I have a lot to hide. Not because I must, but because I want to.

I’m now focusing with Mangotek on helping people + small orgs move away from Big Tech — learning Linux, exploring ethical FOSS tools, and making the shift step-by-step.
If you’re starting your own #BigTechDetox or work in ethical tech, let’s connect, share ideas, and support each other.
Together we can reclaim tech for people, not profit.
💡 Boosts appreciated & welcome! 🙏

Our devotion to privacy and security has led to these two noticeable features in iOS:
1. Permission prompt to access the clipboard (iOS 14)
2. Option to disable downloading icons in Passwords (iOS 26)
We have contributed to several bug fixes under the hood, but these two features are special because they surface in the UI. We are very proud that millions of users see the result of our work on their devices.

I’m excited to share my latest article, published in Forbes: Deepfakes And Social Engineering: A Growing Threat To Everyone.
This piece is personal to me because I’ve seen how quickly deepfake technology is moving from novelty to real-world attacks. It’s not just companies at risk—families are being targeted with AI-cloned voices and fake video calls.
In the article, I break down the real cases we’re seeing, why multifactor authentication (MFA) is essential, and what both organizations and individuals like you and me can do to protect ourselves.
In the piece, I cover:
🔍 Real-world scams driven by AI voice and video
🔐 Why multifactor authentication (MFA) is essential
📱 How both organizations and families can verify smarter
🧠 The mindset shift from trusting appearances to verifying identities
Deepfakes aren’t a future problem. They’re here. And the time to prepare is now.

Hey @protonprivacy it would be nice if you could update your website. Given that both of us fight for #privacy and #opensource, we must not use the same marketing tactics like Big Techs do.
24/7 GPS monitoring of migrants enabled the UK Home Office to collect vast amounts of personal data, invading people’s privacy and inflicting psychological burdens.
It’s a punitive and offensive measure that has rightly been found unlawful by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

This report showing car insurance quotes are more expensive in areas of greater mixed ethnicity is further evidence of how algorithms can embed discrimination and carry real-life harms.
The UK #DPDIBill will make this worse:
🔴 Changes to subject access requests will make it harder to find out what data insurance companies hold on you to challenge a decision or incorrect data.
🔴 Protections from solely automated decisions are weakened.
I was talking with a friend about dating apps, privacy, security and safety.
They are using Feeld, which lets you tag specific kinks -- and which changed their TOS about 2 years ago (IIRC) to specify that they sell user data. (In a massive betrayal of the trust and safety of their user base.)
My friend's response was that they aren't ashamed of who they are and if an app wants to sell their data, no big deal.
My position was that in a time of rising fascism, it's really worth thinking about how in the 1930's, IBM set up the systems to tag and sort people by "undesirable" qualities. In Germany.
I fear for people with all my heart.
For the reading comprehension impaired, let me be clear: I'm not telling anyone not to live their life. I'm saying be smart, raise your game on privacy and security, and keep yourself and your people as safe as you can in a brutal world.

Google Authenticator still syncs two-factor authentication secrets without E2EE. If you enable cloud syncing, this means:
1️⃣ Google can read the secrets and generate one-time passwords for your accounts
2️⃣ Google knows the services you use
3️⃣ #Google knows your usernames
4️⃣ Given a court order, Google is obliged to hand over this data to law enforcement
