I’m working on completing a batch of ollas before I leave for the #ceramics symposium in Virginia next week. We’re finally having days of consecutive rain, marking the beginning of storm season and hopefully the end of our two-year drought. That means I get to give the ollas in my garden a rest for the time being while other regions, particularly out West, move into a dry season during which ollas would be a helpful, sustainable irrigation solution. #OllasByOsa #pottery #gardening

1. Finally, my fifth attempt at a fully functional teapot was a success!! It pours beautifully and looks super cute. (photo attached)
2. Hosted my cousins from Pittsburgh overnight while they were on their way to Chicago. My daughter came in from Detroit for the mini family reunion. Everybody ate VERY well!
3. My dog was very charming throughout the visit and loved meeting new people (the cousins). They were smitten with her.
My wife makes #pottery.
She thinks it's shit.
I think it's beautiful. Because she made it, with her hands and brain.
I wasn't sure they'd include my gripes about Instagram and my shoutout to the Fediverse, but they did! Otherwise, it's about the usual: #pottery, my #punkrock roots, combining #African & #Indigenous ceramics legacies with Western studio #ceramics, etc.
I was invited to make pieces for an upcoming ewer show. The concept was inspired by the gallery owner’s experience beginning to #garden with his family, enjoying the bounty daily, and using #handmade ewers to drizzle olive oil and vinegar over fresh veggies. I love making pots that pour, so the prompt was a welcome challenge, allowing me to combine multiple elements that I’ve practiced over the years. How would you use these pots?
