I photographed these turkeytail mushrooms growing on an old branch that had fallen about 50 feet from my house. It really is true that there are photographic subjects in your own backyard.

16th and Bryant Street, yesterday, about 3:45 p.m.

Note: I've been waiting almost 6 months to take this picture. Although I drive through this intersection every other day on my way to the gym, I usually don't have my camera with me... and the afternoon sky on that part of town rarely has the cloud coverage I've been looking for.

This intersection has a ton of overhead wires for electric buses. (There's a MUNI bus storage yard right around the corner.) The dozens of wires are eye-catching, and I made it worse by wandering around, snapping multiple pictures, then merging three of them in post. Because art.

Also: the shot I really want would be nearly impossible: a single, wide angle shot from the center of the intersection, looking straight up. 16th and Bryant is an extremely busy intersection, with traffic flowing constantly. I do not wish to die.
