Summer is here, and sadly it is peak season for pet abandonment.
#PawFed is a federated map for animal welfare built on #ActivityPub and #OSM.

It already shows shelters and vets near you. Found an abandoned animal or need help? Mention @PawFed from any #Fediverse account: a pin lands on the map, and your call is relayed across the #Fediverse, whatever your instance.

This is Haru and Tanos. Haru is the black cat. We adopted him from a shelter at two years old, after he lived there his whole life. Tanos is a Malinois. We took him in when his owner could not keep him anymore.
Life can change fast, animals are often the first to lose their home. This is why I made #PawFed, a shared map for animal welfare. Not many people use it yet, but it is worth sharing. It relies fully on #ActivityPub and uses #OSM.

I built #FediHood on the #Mastodon API, so you can connect your account with any Mastodon-compatible app, such as #Fedilab.
Fedilab will soon support the extra features at the heart of the project: finding people nearby by city via #OSM, and using #E2EE DMs.

Dear #lazyweb, can anyone recommend a web app that allows you to store and view your past hikes? I'm thinking something where you can import GPX files and view all of them on a map, maybe colored on a scale by their age.

À Budapest et en Hongrie de manière plus générale il y a beaucoup plus de points d'eau potable qu'en France. On en trouve dans tous les villages et ils sont assez bien référencés sur OSM.
Parfois ils sont aussi pensés pour nos compagnons à 4 pattes. Et beaucoup de cafés et restaurants ont une gamelle remplie d'eau devant leur porte.

I've sometimes thought about building a service combining #OSM and the #Fediverse, to talk with people in the same region.

It would be 100% anonymous: a dedicated account, with no link to your existing Fedi identity, and why not #E2EE for messages.

No exact location: posts are attached to the nearest town, so neither the server nor other users see your coordinates.

Anonymity could be what makes people comfortable enough to talk with people around them. Everyone stays in a safe place.

We are now more than 300 users on #FediHood. The project is stable enough for me to invite you to try it.
It is a software running on #ActivityPub and using #OSM.
The idea? Discover people near you or all around the world, and filter by topic.
It doesn't use GPS, you pick the town. The app warns you if your city is too small and suggests a bigger one nearby. Bonus: it supports #E2EE DMs.
