Other than that it’s been a quiet day with nothing much to report.

I’m struggling to people at the moment, the gym was very busy this morning & it kinda used up all my peopling spoons.

Wednesday started early at around 06:30 - AKA crack of sparrows fart!

A quick cuppa then down to the gym.

Breakfast & chores were achieved when I got back.

Went out to the shops while Mrs S had a guy visit her regarding her mums estate.
Managed to get some nice grub without getting too many goodies!

Spent the afternoon chasing around the Milky Way, as one does.

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day at all, it’s not been very warm out of what little sun we got but it looks like the temps might pick up over the next few days.

I need to see about getting so railway sleepers for the garden

A much quieter day today, nothing much to report.

That said, me n Mrs S did get out asses down to the polling station & did our bit to stave off the very real risk of the UK following the US to the dark side!

I am struggling to get things done, although I am making the effort to get to the gym now that I’ve started there. I’m hoping that it becomes a habit that will carry me thru the cold dark mornings next winter!

Up early to go to the gym, it is getting a little easier which is good!

Breakfast & chores when I got home then spent the day avoiding the news by romping around the virtual Milky Way!

Pizza burger & chips for tea, very slightly less bad for me than actual pizza!

I cannot believe that so many folks voted for remorse!
I am trying not to dwell on this because that way lies madness!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 926 , Monday 11/05/2026

Up at crack of sparrows fart to go to the gym.

I discovered a key safety tip today, using one of the weight machines, that has different handles that attach via a carabiner clip, one of the ones that is just spring loaded not the ones that you have to unscrew.
I wear a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms- which fasten with a string - to the gym & normally have the t-shirt hanging over the tracksuit bottoms but today I tucked them in.
Style gurus will be frowning at this point but worse, I caught the carabiner clip in the loop of the bow knot on my trousers & it was a very tricky exercise to free myself without losing my pants or more to the point getting a ‘wedgie’!

Tip for the top, always wear ones t-shirt over ones trousers in the gym!

Thankfully the rest of my day was much less eventful, breakfast then chores followed by a romp around the Milky Way … I may get the Krait Phantom before I continue my journey into the ‘Black’.

Final Thoughts.

Watching ‘Have I got News for You’ & them showing the footage of fartage talking about detention centres & no-one batted an eye-lid. This country is slipping down the same slope that the US did.

Although the UK H&S elves are a force to be reckoned with so these centres will have to be up to ‘code’ as the Americans say!

Well today has sped by, I’m not entirely sure where!

Finally got around to watching the celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday … I feel that he is one of defining people in my life (as he is in so many others!). The world is, as others have said, a far better place with him in it!

Thursday started at around 7am.

Breakfast was had & chores done then we had to go to the funeral of Mrs S’s uncle who sadly died around the same time as her mum, but we only found out about this last month!

It was a lovely service, the sun making an appearance to see him off in style.

This afternoon has been a quiet one, I spent it trundling around the Milky Way.

We had a naughty Chinese takeaway for tea & very nice it was too!

Not a bad day all told, but not much energy. I will have to see if I can find some spoons to go shopping tomorrow.

Out at the gym again by 7am this morning.

Got back had breakfast & did my chores.

Also swapped out the filters in the vacuum cleaner, because they were, as my sister would say, minging!

I was going to go shopping today but we still have loads from last week so that mixed with a lack of motivation meant the trip has been postponed.

Enjoying doing a bit of exploration in Elite Dangerous as I return with goodies for the Engineer.

Pizza for tea, although I am not enjoying them as I once did, I think the gym is altering my biochemistry!

Final Thoughts.

I am persona non feline with Alice mog tonight. Her coat was in a right state because I haven’t brushed her in a while & brushing the cats comes, along with clearing out the litter tray, under the heading of ‘house elf work’ as far as Mrs S is concerned.

Sophie mog is fine, she loves being brushed but her sister feels that it comes under the same heading as being given her worming drops!

Hey ho, all done for a little while, Alice may forgive me but that seems unlikely.

Friday started before 6am with Mrs S deciding that crushing cans, while having all the doors open to carry the noise, was a good plan!

Gym & then chores, with breakfast coming a very late 3rd place at 08:30.

The weather has continued to be nice, although it did cloud over this afternoon, threatening rain that never came.

Monday started with the 06:30 alarm going off.

Down to the gym then back for breakfast & chores.

Had to go curtain shopping for Mrs S’s ‘study’, we ended up getting a blackout blind, which I had to fit in the glare of the noonday sun, which was fun.

Mrs S likes the result though so alls well that ends well!

It’s been a very hot day, so windows & doors were shut & curtains shut!

Caught up with a bit of Starfield this afternoon then did tea - quiche & salad followed by strawberries & ice cream.

Final Thoughts.

I was knackered & peopled out after yesterday, but of course that had to take a backseat as I had to do my house elf bit.

Tomorrow could be fun!

Woken up at around 5am by next door’s kids banging around on something, I will not be sorry to see them go, I only hope that our new neighbours like to stay in bed a bit longer!

It’s been a sunny warm day, went to the gym, did the chores & knocked about the house.

We had a decorator come & price up doing the box room - the other one who came the other month has been spinning us along & will not give a firm date, the lass who came around today can start in a week!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 1011 , Tuesday 04/08/2026

Up at around 7am because I could not sleep thru the noise from next door.

Chores & breakfast were followed by a very unproductive day, could not get my brain into gear at all!

Mrs S wanted to go to Costco™ this afternoon so off we went.

The cunning plan was to have an early tea at their ultra cheap cafe & then hit the shop proper. Sadly the first part of the plan went slightly awry!

The first issue is that Costco™, in their wisdom, have take all but 3 of the tables with seats out & replaced them with standing tables. I HATE eating at standing tables but luckily we managed to snag one of the 3 with seats. These are the 2 x 2 seater benches with the table in between type. I had just settled in to wait while Mrs S ordered our tea when some strange woman just sat down opposite me - no please / thank you / do you mind, she just brazenly nicked Mrs S’s seat - I protested about this so she moved down the bench saying something about sharing. Now I have a thing about personal space & a bigger thing about people with no manners! But what could I do - I could not in all conscience tell her to leave because there were, undeniably 2 empty seats at the table.
It completely spoilt my tea though.

I think that we will pay extra net time & go to an eatery where there are enough tables for all the diners!

Then having to traipse around the store & endure all the people almost finished me off.

Final Thoughts.

The trip to Costco™ really frazzled me, at this point I am not sure if I’ll be going to the gym in the morning, I’m not sure I can cope with being in close proximity to people.
That sounds wimpish & weak & hopefully after a nights sleep I will feel differently.

Managed a lie in this morning, it being a public holiday.

It has been stupidly hot here in deepest, darkest Yorkshire with temps hitting 32ºC in the shade in the east facing back garden this afternoon!

A mostly quiet day but we did do some measuring up in the box room for fitting a new desk & shelving in once the decorators have been next week & the carpet we chose on Saturday is fitted. Mrs S is very excited!

Had a naughty fired chicken takeaway - I tried a new item on their menu - garlic seasoned
Chicken ‘strips’ which turned out to be massive, & tasty!

Rewatched ‘Grey Man’ with Ryan Gosling, a throughly enjoyable turn your brain off romp.

Not a bad day at all but I wonder if I will be able to get any sleep tonight!

Up stupidly early, despite not getting to bed until after midnight I was up before 6am.

Breakfast & chores were followed by a trip to my late MiL’s to get a bookcase Mrs S wanted in her newly refurbished ‘study’

A peaceful afternoon relaxing & catching up on ‘The Diplomat’

Watched the movie ‘Unstoppable’ (excellent by the way can throughly recommend!) while enjoying a pizza burger & chips from the local takeaway.

Not a bad day, summer seems to have arrived & warm weather abounds!

Up at stupid o’clock thanks to next door & Mrs S not understanding that dis squirrel needs his sleep!

It’s been a busy day. Did my chores & then cleaned out the box room ready for the carpet guy to come & measure up - he was supposed to come at 10am he finally rolled up at 2pm!

After he left we had a short time to ourselves before we had to go to Costco™ to get one of the tyres changed as it had a slow leak - it should have been both the front tires but they only had one in stock when I booked it last week so tyre number 2 will have to be fitted next week, thus will equilibrium be maintained, at least as far as the tyres go!

Costco™ was full on, & that mixed with the heat had me having a wobbly moment - I get them a lot less than I used to but they are never much fun!

Got home & unpacked just in time of rme to make tea.

An amazon peep knocked with a parcel, but because he didn’t use the doorbell Mrs S ignored him & he left the parcel out in plain sight on the drive!

Today was one of those days when the appeal of a single life spoke to me again!

It’s been stupidly hot again today but tomorrow is promised to be cooler!

Up just after 6am when a clap of thunder wrenched me from the arms of Morpheus!

Kelly - the decorator turned up just after 9am.

Gave the washing machine it’s periodic deep clean, never a job I enjoy but it’s surprising how grotty the seals & the draw get just in normal daily use.

Need to get to Eurybia (in Elite Dangerous) , I want to cash in all my exploration data before swapping over to No Mans Sky for their new Expedition … ‘The Swarm’ which does smack of them copying Elite Dangerous (with the Thargoid invasion a few years ago) also I’m not sure I’m up for the ‘community effort’ I like playing solo, I’ve tried multiplayer & it didn’t quite fit. I hope that the devs aren’t going to force me to be social, that would really put me off.

Seems that once again Friday is not actually the day I get the car - I’m just gonna give up the whole idea.

Sunday started at stupid o’clock or around 5:45am because my brain hates me!

It’s been a busy day, breakfast & chores was followed by a trip over the hills for a family party.

We will skip lightly over the AI hallucinating my brother’s address & trying to send us to Buxton instead of Liverpool.

We will also not spend any time on the 2 idjets who thought it was fun to over take on blind bends!

After a pleasant BBQ & afternoon spent with family the journey home was punctuated with a driver who felt that 40mph on a 60mph road was appropriate!

Not a bad day but there high frustration levels were hit on a number of occasions & no doubt I will pay for them tomorrow!

Well I nearly got a lie in this morning but next door banging about had me up at 07:00.

We had the decorator over again to finish off today. So next week will be putting shelves up, getting the carpet fitted & building Mrs S’s new desk, I need to make the most of this weekend!

Did my chores then spent a couple of hours getting to a suitable finishing point in Elite Dangerous.

Now I have to decide if I start NMS exp. 22 or start Starfield or possibly both!

Had a nice relaxing afternoon catching up on Mrs S’s tv shows & finished the day with a fried chicken takeaway.

Not a bad day at all, the box room / study is well on the way to being sorted & then we can start on the front bedroom - yay!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 969 , Tuesday 23/06/2026

Tuesday started early, with my brain deciding that since it was up at 06:30 yesterday it might as well get into the habit of getting up that early!

It’s been a mostly quiet day today, although I did go out this evening to get a blackout roman blind for my room, having been inspired by the one I put up for Mrs S.

The current plan is to put up a long shelf above the window & attached to the blind to that.

I was going to do it this evening but I need to completely clear my desk & that will take far too long so tomorrow it is!

Final Thoughts.

I wanted to take Mrs S out for her tea on the way back from picking up the blind, but she wasn’t up for that so I went on my own to get the blind & had a couple of mini pizzas when got home instead. Joy.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 946 , Sunday 31/05/2026

Sunday started at around 07:30 after a short lie in.

Made breakfast & did my chores then we went across to my late MiLs & had a busy but productive morning.

I took down 2 eye level cupboards, dismantled a large set of freestanding shelves & also deinstalled the stairlift which has been tripping me up for months - there is now an obstacle free staircase!

We got home around 13:30 so I made us lunch - ham & tomato sarnies.

Then I fitted the eye level cupboards - which went fine until I discovered only 2 of the 3 supports were identical & so there had to be some adjustments.

I was going to rebuild the freestanding shelves but discovered that I had left all the fittings behind - neatly stored in a little tub, but sadly not subsequently transferred to the car!

Mrs S reckons she might pick them up tomorrow while she is out.

Final Thoughts.

There was much frustration today, mainly centred around the fact that I did 99% of the work while Mrs S looked on smugly & proudly announcing that one cannot teach an old dog new tricks - which to me smacks of being an excuse for none participation!

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 947 , Monday 01/06/2026

Up almost before the crack of sparrows fart this morning, next door’s kids playing a blinder & beating what sounded like a kettle drum at a quarter to six in the very AM!

Down to the gym, it was a hard session today, I seemed to have no energy!

Got home, breakfasted & then did my chores.

Cleansed the radiator out of Mrs S’s study / box room before refitting it - I’ve left tell-tales on overnight to check for leaks.

Got on the PS5 this afternoon. Am enjoying Starfield enormously!

Not a bad day & Mrs S is pleased with the progress in her study - hopefully we will have her ensconced in there by the end of the week!

Up at 6am then down to the gym.

I was going to put up a shelf & the new blind in my room today but I had forgotten that Mrs S was in the office & it’s a 2m long blind so a 2 person job! Also it was hotter than a rattlesnakes armpit!

So I did some tidying up in preparation for Friday, the next time Mrs S is home, when hopefully work will progress!

Out exploring the universe again today in Starfield, there is sooo much to explore!
