FirefallFirefall is a relative newly discovered phenomenon discovered in Yosemite National Park not to be confused with the old firefall that was manmade. I've been to Yosemite on 8 different occasions trying to capture this and have been skunked 7 times. Firefall.

This is an image of what is known as the Firefall in Yosemite Valley.
The proper name of Firefall is Horsetail Falls. In Mid-February if everything is in alignment you can see this amazing waterfall turn into what appears as a ribbon of Lava coming off the mountain.
For this to happen many things need to line up, most importantly a clear sky in the afternoon.
The falls come off an area to the right of El Capitan, pretty much a shear cliff. The sun as it sets across the valley drops into an area that sends a focused beam of light directly onto the rocks beside the waterfall reflecting the light onto the falls giving the water this amazing orange glow.
