Mr. Du Ya-xiong was an outstanding musicologist in China. He researched and organised Chinese ethnic music theory and ethnic music, filling in many academic gaps. In addition, he also participated in the translation of foreign language monographs such as Twentieth-Century Harmony, and promoted the Chineseisation of the “Kodály Method”. He has left many valuable achievements for the music field.

The beloved musical auteur, who helped pioneer the studio-as-instrument, influencing generations of musicians in pop & beyond, was revealed in early 2024 to be living with a neurocognative disorder akin to dementia. Wilson was 82.
