Murray Leinster (June 16, 1896 – June 8, 1975), an American writer of science fiction. He is best known for “First Contact,” which won the 1996 Retro-Hugo Award for Best Novelette. Leinster also won the 1956 Hugo Award for “Exploration Team” and is honored by the Sidewise Award, named after his story “Sidewise in Time”
