I just spoke with a #US #Senator office about the #fediverse . They're asking for more information to help spread around #Capital #Hill in small bite sized easy to understand pieces. I'm obviously going to give them @elena beautiful #movie on the #fedi (with some light editing which she's agreed to).
I'll of course show them https://fediverse.info/ and https://fedi.tips/ which are great websites. I figured I'd give them examples of amazing #AP projects such as #mastodon , #pixelfed , #peertube , #bandwagon , and #bonfire ; even things like @admin .
I'd love to know from folks any EASY to understand projects that best encompass the Fediverse and explanations of it.
What are some projects you'd hand to your friends and family that would explain and display to them what we are?
I'll say this isn't going to happen over night. There's lot of questions around regulations, trust & safety, etc. But I feel it's pertinent to at least get the conversation going, especially considering the current state of disdain for big social media and the impending legislation around these things.
I'll finally state if there's anyone in this list that does NOT want to be involved with this, that's totally fine and I understand and I can exclude you from the materials I give to them.

Rated Spider-Man: Brand New Day 7/10
Do I not get Spider-Man?I was there for the original Raimi films. I was into them. Took my girlfriend at the time for a late night premiere showing of Spider-Man 3, which was awkward for so many reasons.And when this movie kicked off, I was like, "Oh, we're so back." Perhaps some of the best cinematic Spider-Man we've ever had. Destin Daniel Cretton proves himself as the right choice for the action and acrobatics of the webslinger. Free of his magnet school trappings, Holland Spider-Man crushes it as a truly street-based hero.And I was into what they were doing with the Mystery Antagonist. Their first scene with the initial body swaps was very well done. I knew who it was because the internet is a gossipy minefield, but I was into this interpretation.Where it started to crack was the scene with MJ on the rooftop. I started to feel the screenplay's mechanisms more as constraints than masterful engineering. We just had a whole action set piece about heroics only to end up here. We lean into the fundamental tension of Peter's situation - by having MJ and Ned present in the movie, we must tease some sort of development after No Way Home's conclusion.But really, *any* fix here undermines the story. The fact that the antagonist lampshades this only further exposes how much the writers have to really tread carefully, befo--OOPS, FEIGE NEEDS 72+ MINUTES OF THIS MOVIE TO BE ABOUT ANOTHER CHARACTER.And I was fully prepared for this movie to end after the vault scene. Give me a Brand New Day Part 2 where we center the other character more. It gives us room to deal with everything.Instead, we got it all stuffed right here, as we tick towards Doomsday and have another Infinity War moment where the emotional stakes get processed through a meat grinder in order to give us what is hopefully a juicy burger on the other side. Hey, Endgame didn't have E. Coli. Maybe Secret Wars won't either.

I'm solo parenting my three year old, F, and my one year old, L, and I tried this as a play to get some calm time before bed. It...worked!F had previously really freaked out at the scene in Paddington 3 where Paddington is in danger on the boat, so there were several moments where I thought this would shake him off, but he declared from the start that "this isn't scary" and laughed at the interactions between the cat and the other animals.Admittedly, I had to do dishes toward the end and I missed some key emotional stuff regarding the bird and the whale, but this is something of a minor miracle and I look forward to revisiting this with F and L when they can sit still long enough.

Hadn’t seen this in a while, had forgotten how incredible it was. Obviously Denzel is at the top of his game but Ethan Hawke is the secret weapon. The nervous energy in his scene in the diner is incredible.

Rewatched. Awesome movie! Up there with the top gangster flicks. Great acting by both Denzel and Russell.
