First time watching this since I decided to be a smart arse when doing Auteur Theory in A-Level Film Studies by picking Peter Greenaway instead of someone stylistically obvious like Tarantino or Burton. No fucking idea what a 17-year-old me wrote about between this, The Baby of Macon, and 8 1/2 Women.22 or so years later — still a gruesome take on humanity through the juvenile replication of Baroque paintings. Beauty smeared in dog shit. Maddening yet so utterly engrossing.

Ainda estou tentando absorver tudo o que foi mostrado, pois tem muita simbologia para compensar pela falta de tempo para elaborar mais a narrativa. Arte lindíssima aliás.
Fala sobre equilibrar a individualidade com comunidade e família, também sobre empatia e hipocrisia. Mas infelizmente não tem muito tempo para elaborar todas as complexidades introduzidas.
De toda forma, para projeto inaugural de um novo estúdio de um grupo de jovens, é bem impressionante.

As subtle as a sledgehammer and yet capitalism still exists. Sad. Martin Sheen is incredible, Charlie as good as he’s ever been, Stone can’t keep a camera still for five seconds, and Gecko remains one of the most nauseatingly watchable characters of all time.
