As far as action flicks go, it's very enjoyable and satisfying. While I would've liked a bit more depth/drama in the actual narrative, I did appreciate that it was a cohesive story with solid mechanics. I also appreciated its capable film score and character and set designs that seemed reminiscent of <a href= "http://letterboxd.com/film/the-matrix-revolutions/"><i>The Matrix: Revolutions</i></a> and Spielberg's <a href= "http://letterboxd.com/film/war-of-the-worlds/"><i>War of the Worlds</i></a>. I don't know that Cage (Cruise) or Rita (Blunt) ever become fully-fledged characters (there's not nearly enough background on either), but I do anticipate a future of film that embraces unwieldy broadswords.

Rated Pitch Perfect 7/10

This is legitimately one of the funniest things I've seen all year. It doesn't necessarily hold a candle to last year's Bridesmaids in terms of female comedy, but the concept--sort of a rip on GLEE--was well-enough executed to become something of a cult classic.
