I love where I live, but while I'm traveling, I frequently see places that make me stop and think, "I'd like to live there."

But as I'm an ordinary person without the finances to own multiple homes, I just take a look, grab a reference photo, and back in my studio, paint the moment.

Lakeville Barn

Lakeville highway in Sonoma County runs south out of Petaluma and empties out on highway 37.
Thirty years ago the land along Lakeville highway was mainly old family farms where cows and sheep were common.
Today there are few of the farms that were there when I first started traveling the road. This is one of them.

Lakeville Barn

Captured from the side of Lakeville Highway just south of Petaluma in Sonoma County.
The foreground of the image shows a white wooden fence. Inside of the wooden fence is a smaller chain link fence that encloses a small holding area for livestock.
The barn is old and weathered. If it was ever painted the paint has long flaked off and faded. The structure is still sound without any gaping holes to be seen.
The sun is just coming up and is shining on the front of the barn. Behind the barn the coastal hills/mountains rise up.

Just sharing this reminder of a really glorious day in the #mountains .
I spent quite a bit of time to find exactly THIS spot so that fore and midground blended so well together.

And currently I'm having this as a background image in teams. Sometimes I wonder if this might look unprofessional - and then I think "maybe I don't care".
