The #MBTA closed the central tunnel of the Green Line for most of January to repair tracks and eliminate 16 slow zones.
But riders aren't seeing much of a difference in travel times. Here's why:
I’m amazed how quiet it is on the redline train today (from Kendall - Fields Corner) - no loud music, no one screaming on the phone, no groups loudly chatting or obnoxiously laughing.

Taking the T today to see whether the shutdown to fix tracks actually works
Especially the slow zones between south station and Andrew, which drove me nuts every time

I know it’s fun to hate on the T but man have they made progress. Got off my (early!) Amtrak train and went down to the Red Line. Train to Davis showed up within 30 seconds. The Red Line moved smoothly and quickly. Get to Davis and my bus home shows up in 3 minutes. We are getting close to having a fully functional transit system again. #mbta #boston
Keytar Bear is in downtown crossing T this morning!! Even a few seconds of his music when the doors open on the train is delightful.
The T should use some space of large stations (for example the concourse at DTX) to hold T(ea) ☕️dance once a month or so and sell tickets and booze to raise more money 💰
Or is Tea dance only a gay thing?
Ashmont branch came back online today after a month of work. And the train frequency was such a nice surprise. Probably just a one time thing LOL. But regardless...
