Friends & Followers, many of you know I'm the primary carer for my wife... after five years without a break I am taking some time off (I have live-in respite care booked in) & have decided that will also include a short break from social media & Mastodon (where I have been posting daily for over three years).

I noticed some time ago that 3 #Mastodon features had stopped working on my blog. Each of them seemed like a separate problem, but they had the same #rootcause. In this blog post, I aim to describe these issues and propose a simple solution.
If you follow someone whose own posts are good but they boost too much, you can hide just their boosts if you want:
1. Go to their profile page
2. Click the ⋯ icon
3. Click "Hide boosts"
(If you change your mind, go back to their profile and click "Show boosts" instead.)
mstdn.social, masto.ai & mastodon.coffee are now all updated and running the latest #Mastodon v4.5.10

⚠️ Heads up - there's a #Mastodon #scam bot doing the rounds. Mastodon does not "temporarily restrict your visibility" - that is simply not a thing here.
If you see a DM or post to that effect begging you to click a link to restore anything, do not click it - report it instead.

Klar ist die Reichweite vermeintlich geringer & sind viele Linke hier sogar untereinander sehr judgy und intolerant. Als Christdemokrat werde ich hier noch lange als vermeintlicher „Fremdkörper“ von autoritären Mackern angeraunzt werden.
Doch dafür gibt es hier auch Zeit, Raum & Tiefe für echten Austausch & starke Posts wie diesen von @cdonat 👇
Und der Dialog reicht zunehmend auch ins RL. Erst neulich sprach mich ein Lehrer an, der selbst gar keinen Mastodon-Account hat, aber jeden Morgen mein Tässle Kaffee ☕️ hier genießt.
Denn hier ist eben kein Konzern-Silo, alle Posts von mir können frei eingesehen werden.
