luanti
Played with the graphical settings of #MineTest / #Luanti and if you turn on the real time shadows and shaders and such, the game can actually look pretty darn good for a pixel-y voxel game. Many of these settings, including the real time shadows, are disabled by default. I am playing with them set to medium. Watching the sunset create realistic long shadows behind objects and watching the shadows move with the objects casting them is pretty stinkin' cool.
The kids wanted to play Minecraft together and I nearly flipped tables after dealing with the launcher/ M$ account shit etc. for 2 minutes. 🤯 Just NO. But.. It took me 5 minutes to learn Minetest / Luanti exists, download and run two copies, create a LAN game on one notebook and join it on another. Great experience.. zero bullshit - just a folder with the game files, a client.exe - Zen! 😌 Thanks to @Luanti and all the people working on this! 💙
This year marked #Luanti’s second consecutive appearance at #FOSDEM! Held in Brussels, Belgium, FOSDEM is the largest free and open source software conference in Europe. Fresh off our recent rebranding and new release cycle, FOSDEM was a fantastic opportunity to collect feedback and update people on what’s happening in the Luanti world
