Victoria isn't particularly known for #aurora, but with the sun being at its solar maximum it's a great time to keep an eye on the night sky.

Despite spending about 9 weeks in Iceland and Norway (during late autumn/winter) the past 18 months, two of the best Auroras I've ever seen have been right here where you normally never see them. Fingers crossed for some more soon!

Rock stacks on Victoria, Australia's Great Ocean Road with the Aurora Australis shining behind in greens and reds. The aurora is gently reflected in the wet foreground sands.

Tubberlungener Mount Buffalo's granite monolith the Cathedral is gently illuminated by pre-dawn light while the Aurora Australis creates beams of pink light behind.

The Horn is a viewpoint on Tubberlungener Mount Buffalo which faces direct South. The lookout made of rocks makes for a great viewpoint with Aurora Australis shining in red beams and green curtains of light below.

A rock stack along the Great Ocean Road of Victoria, Australia is captured with the green glow of Aurora Australis above. Fortunately no one else was on the beach at this time which allowed me to play with light painting to capture the lines of waves which would otherwise be blurred together over the long exposure.

Brandywine Falls located in Whistler Canada. This was the first landscape shot I took where I felt I had made a "great" image. The large distant falls plummeting from the rock face surrounded by the moss covered stone. Leading into the river with moss covered rocks in the foreground. An abstract "arty" shot of the top of the U.S.-Mexico border fence. It appears as a series of pointy, rusty metal plates, like some sort of metallic dragon's-back plates atop vertical corrugations formed by telephoto compression of the 30' tall posts that make up the fence. The border fence road can be seen "above" the fence, though it's really an artifact of the telephoto lens and the angle of view. The road surface appears as black and white corduroy stripes: shadows from the low sun shining through the fence.

Fleeting conditions in between squalls often give you little time to react. I was lying in my tent patiently waiting for the light to change. Suddenly, I hear my friend yelling "Morgan! You gotta get out here!" - I quickly got on my feet and practically waltzed over to this composition I found earlier and captured this rainbow in front of Mount Macdonald.

Soft light drapes over the mountains, their sharp ridges brushed with mist. A faint rainbow flickers against the rock face, vanishing and reappearing as the clouds shift. The alpine terrain, scattered with weathered stone and pockets of evergreens, feels caught between seasons—warm tones of autumn blending into the cool hush of approaching dusk. A moment on the edge of change, held in quiet suspension."

This is the second waterfall when entering the Nauthúsagil Ravine, Iceland.
