Wilson River Trail: Part 1

I had an amazing weekend, I’m so happy spring is finally here. It’s so freeing to carry everything you need on your back and be completely surrounded by nature. I feel so much safer alone in the middle of the forest than camping along forest roads. I’m considering this spring training while the Cascades are still covered in snow. This trail is ideal for that.

In an ATV trip to Innaaluup Nuvua last summer we stopped at the top of this magnificent valley above Innaarulaalikuluk and Admiralty Inlet. #Nunavut #Arctic #LandscapePhotography

Hey friends! We just came back from a great hike near #garmischpartenkirchen. We wanted to do this mountain recently but the snow in the upper part was too risky for us.

Today we went there again. Beautiful ascent, nice views. Some spray rain and a slippery, dirty descent. But at the end we even had some sun!

Now we feel tired and a bit sore 😉

Central Cascades

I was trying to find a location with less rain showers this weekend and somehow ended up camping in the mountains. 🤔 Today was so fun and I want to remember that when the snow showers start in the morning. The mountain views have been stunning. Seeing how close I can get to Mount Washington tomorrow. Maybe the weather will be totally fine but I’m prepared to bail if I’m not able to stay warm.

Mount Washington. The volcano has a wide and flat rocky face that is covered in snow. Miles of burnt forest between the viewer and the mountain. Green forest leads to gray trees. Blue sky with large streaks of gray clouds.

Square Lake at sunrise. Orange and purple clouds reflect into a relatively calm alpine lake. White mist floats above the lake in the distance. A few trees are on the opposite shore.

Three Fingered Jack. The large jagged rocky peak has three points, for the three fingers. An alpine meadow with some gray dead tree trunks are in front of the mountain. New green trees are thriving in the fire’s wake. Portions of the dark rock and ridge line are covered in white snow, but the peak is not. Beautiful blue skies.

The Old Summit Trail enters the Jefferson Wilderness. A sign on trail right says Mount Jefferson Wilderness, Deschutes National Forest. The trail traverses an exposed forest with some green trees and some burnt ones. Light blue sky with artistic white clouds.

Olympic National Park: Gladys Divide

Started the morning with a push toward Gladys. Impressed by the clear green waters of Flapjack Lakes. Amazed by the gray rocky cliffs along the divide. Found a boot path to summit Mount Gladys. Great experience even with the clouds. It was incredibly hot and humid after reentering the rainforest, something I’m not used to. Big Log camp had a little breeze and few bugs.
