This time of year, the transition from hot and humid and buggy summer to the cool refreshing blue-skies-colorful-trees of autumn is always a time of quiet excitement and anticipation for me. Though mostly I'm not a summer person, admittedly the visits to the ocean, the flowers and birdies and bees and butterflies in the garden, and the occasional fun thunderstorm (not the destructive ones) are times I treasure. But autumn, those incredibly magical sunny crispy-golden days that we see ... not every year ... are a gift.

In this piece I attempted to show the excitement of the season's changes, from the sadness many feel for the end of summer ... to the brilliance and joy of those too-brief golden days ... to the foreshadowing of the dark days of winter.
