Today, specifically, @snehasisnama made me draw Kishore Kumar in clown makeup for some reason. And then @titanraj read us his many eccentricities...

It's time for a new "meet the artist" thingy! I'd love to get to know and connect with more art friends here at Mastodon!
(Hopefully I''l find more BR folks?)
The text is in BR-PT, so here's a quick translation:
Manoela Costa, illustrator and comic artist. Loves: camping, having coffee with friends, incense and other fragrant stuff, sleeping early, playing TTRPG, spend the evening reading

A natural formation of craggy stone rises up from the desert. The top is a flat, table-like surface, on which a person stands in front of a campfire. Smoke from the fire rises into the evening sky. The sky is a dull greenish color, with a yellow glow around the horizon. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A small window in a concrete room looks out on a blue sky with a few clouds. The walls of the room are covered with garish paint and graffiti. The window itself is framed with red paint, clearly not professionally done. Above the window is a heavy metal pipe hanging from the ceiling. Placed on the windowsill is a row of books. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

I made a video of the #carnivorousPlant zine! It's got #art and some of the prettiest photos I could find in my hoard. Also there's a couple of printables, a carnivorous plant word search and printable care sheet for Venus flytraps.

A person walks across a tightrope high in the sky. The ground is not visible, just blue sky and clouds. The person is holding a balancing pole. They have arrived at the other end of the tightrope, which is anchored to a yellow sign planted in a chunk of earth that is hovering in space. The sign says "Closed" in black letters. A bird is perched on top of the signpost. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

THE MASTER MIND OF MARS (1978)

Acrylic - 21" x 27"

The only John Carter cover in which I intentionally deviated from the story. The Master Mind does not appear in the actual scene but Lester del Rey thought the cover should go along with the title, so I took liberty placing the character there. 1/5

Ulysses Paxton stands with a hypodermic needle poised over Valla Dia, who lays unconscious on an operating table. Tubes run from her arm to a device hanging from the ceiling. A large chamber in the device is filled with blood. An emaciated old man lurks behind them, fixing his goggled stare on Ulysses. The Master Mind holds a long slender blade in his hand. Through an archway on the left, a four-armed white ape enters.

A dirty, slate-blue plaster wall. In the center of the wall is an arched alcove, in which is a grimy carving of an unsettling figure: a heavily bearded faced wrapped in a robe or cloak. The face has deep-set eyes and two large horns that emerge from the alcove. Its left eye is a gleaming camera lens. Pasted to the wall next to it are faded, ragged posters and flyers, their contents impossible to make out. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A figure wearing a gray suit and tie strides through a blue, starry night. The figure is carrying a cane and raising a top hat, turning to smile at the viewer. The figure has a shapeless head and a face that is no more than a smiling mouth and two glowing white eyes. Growing out of the top of its head is a white flower. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

Rainbow liquid pours from a large pipe in a dark interior space. The pipe is held up by dark gray cross-beams. Behind it, figures observe from glowing green windows set high on a dark wall. Another scaffolding stands by the windows. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A slightly raised orifice sits on a rocky surface under a heavy, starless night sky. Greenish light and smoke rise from the orifice. On both sides of it are two railings attached to green poles with yellow lights on top, like those you find at the entrances of New York City subway stations. They are casting a yellowish glow. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A dark greenish space. Three dark, faceless people are standing around, staring at a glowing image in front of them: a bright yellow-green rectangle in which is shown an unsettling figure wearing a suit and tie. The figure has a grinning, skeletal face. The rectangle has blurry edges and looks like it is projected on a wall in front of them. Two of them have windup clock keys sticking out of their backs. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A tiny, cylindrical house with a conical roof sits on top of a very narrow, tall, rocky pinnacle. On the left side of the pinnacle, a narrow stairway cut into the rock leads down. The house has an arched door on that side, and a round window on the other. A poll sticks out from beneath the window, giving it the appearance of a birdhouse. The left side of the house and mountain are lit blue, while the right side has a crimson tinge to it. The mountain stands against a yellowish sky. In the distance is dimly visible the greenish silhouette of another similar mountain. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A glowing, vaporous figure sits on a hobby horse. The figure gives off a greenish light. The pole of the hobby horse is seen through the figure. The hobby horse has a horned, iron-gray, distinctly un-horse-like head that looks more like that of a dog god. The background is blue. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A figure holding a long staff walks through a looming, eerily minimal city. The buildings are large, blocklike, and rectangular, with few windows and doors. The effect is that of a theatrical set. Set on the front face of the largest building is a giant analog clock. The overall scene is a greenish-gold color. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman."

THE GAMEPLAYERS OF ZAN (1976)
Acrylic - 28” x 22”

An unusual aspect of this assignment was that the author told Donald Wollheim what scene should appear on the cover. My task, then, was to paint “a mental image of a woman revolving in blue boxes over an infinite control panel with a star pattern all around her.” 1/2
