On the up side of the heat and humidity getting going, the ajisai (hydrangea) are out in force.

These are all from a short walk a couple of days ago. The variety in colour and shapes of the flowers is always impressive.

A hydrangea flower, a flat top composed of hundreds of tiny buds ranging from green to pink and purple, surrounded by a ring of larger flowers, with multi-layered light purple petals, slightly star shaped.

In the background out of focus is a small neighbourhood field, lush with something green and indistinct, and some houses in the background.

Several clusters of round pale coloured hydrangea flower clusters, each cluster the size of a volleyball. The cluster in focus is pale purple, with a strong gradation in colour, darker in the centre of each flower, very pale towards the edges, but the edges are sharply distinct as though an edge enhancement filter was run on the image (it wasn't, they looked just like this in person).

A cluster of light blue hydrangea flowers with highlights of white and pink against a background of green foliage. The cluster is bristling with short yellow tipped stamens of the individual flowers giving a slightly rough hairy appearance.

A cluster of pale de-saturated rose coloured hydrangea flowers. The petals are flat and nearly white tinted dusty rose, with the edges and backsides of the petals more darkly coloured.
