I do not want to hear one GOP member bitching and moaning about social programs during the November elections when Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc (at a MINIMUM) are ALL gonna get #HurricaneHelene FEMA help in the coming days.

For those who don't understand how Americans relate a waffle restaurant to weather events:
Waffle House restaurants are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They do NOT close for ANY reason except impending catastrophe.
So when Waffle House reports that all locations in a city have been closed due to weather, that area is most likely fucked after the storm is over.

the first #hurricane i survived as a child in Puerto Rico. this was 1975 and it is one of my core memories.
Mami's grandma survived the tsumani of the early 1900s. Mama J passed on that experience to Nana who passed it to Mami then to me. what we lost was the inevitable but were able to save the basics. when one of my besties lost everything, was able to give her clothes & toys. decades later, she said, she kept them all as a reminder of our friendship.

It took me 2 months to complete this vase, which I made to honor the power & purpose of hurricanes. We made it through 3 strong storms last year. Milton caused a spiritual & mental shift moving me to “let go of that which no longer served me.” (That included Instagram, btw!) There is more to hurricanes than destruction & despair. They move nutrients from sea to land and renew ecosystems. I used #GulfCoast clays from LA, FL & AL to decorate the surface. #pottery #clay #hurricane #transformation

Staff of #FEMA were left baffled on Monday after #DavidRichardson, the head of the US disaster agency since May, said during a briefing that he had not been aware the country has a #HurricaneSeason, acc/to 4 sources familiar w/the situation.
