If humans are indeed the most evolved species, why do so many of us suffer from developmental or genetic diseases? Phys.org explains why, unlike our ape ancestors, humans are still paying the price for losing our tails. https://flip.it/DX01o9

Thirty years after the first exoplanets were discovered, hundreds of additional exoplanets have been identified within the “habitable zone,” a place where liquid water and maybe even life may exist. The MIT Press Reader asks, could a self-sustaining starship carry humans to distant worlds? https://flip.it/0q093h

Does a potential treatment for Parkinson’s disease already exist? Researchers have recently discovered more about how the disease spreads and a cancer drug that has proven effective on mice. More from @ScienceAlert:
This is my childhood friend Kevin's "Big Stick" emblem. He had* severe hemophilia and the Big Stick is a rite of passage that he's taken part in for over 20 years at an activity camp for kids with hemophilia.
Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder where your body doesn't make enough clotting factor to stop bleeds. This means that there is no such thing as a minor injury. It's not just cuts and scrapes. You pull a muscle? There's bleeding that has to be controlled.
Hemophiliacs have to administer clotting factor from an IV to stop bleeds. At this camp, the kids will reach an important rite of passage. They learn a crucial skill they'll need to become independent. The kids will self infuse their own IV for the first time.
Kevin's at the camp for work reasons, but he's also volunteering to give back. He hand carves every child their own custom stick trophy to award to them after they've taken a needle and made their "big stick".
*-He still has hemophilia, but cutting edge therapies improved it.

Guess it's time to collect some #ai sources that I notice on my daily digital endeavours. 🤓

Let's start with this #interview that #GeoffreyHinton gave #CBS just lately. I find that #kindergarden allegory quite fascinating - #humans would be the kids that won't understand what's going on while the digital adults pull the strings.
Given the state of the world, I'm not sure if that has to be a bad thing.
I’m starting to see a troubling trend: #democrat first time candidates going after the current administration but also failing to stand up for or even throw #trans people under the bus.
Say it with me.
#transpeople are not disposable.
We are not a #fringe issue
We’re fucking #humans.
Turns out, boredom may have some advantages. @ScienceAlert explains in more detail, including how we all need to “embrace the pause.”
