📷 Spotted along the freeway a few minutes ago, volunteers from Lawrenceville, GA taking a break on their way to Asheville with Gatorade and water.

I do not want to hear one GOP member bitching and moaning about social programs during the November elections when Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc (at a MINIMUM) are ALL gonna get #HurricaneHelene FEMA help in the coming days.
Not one damned word! Not One! You HEAR ME, DeSantis, Kemp, Huckabee-Sanders, Ivey, Lee, etc? 🤬
For those who don't understand how Americans relate a waffle restaurant to weather events:
Waffle House restaurants are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They do NOT close for ANY reason except impending catastrophe.
So when Waffle House reports that all locations in a city have been closed due to weather, that area is most likely fucked after the storm is over.
📷 One good deed.
The man overheard inside Circle K that the owner of a car outside needed a jump start. She ran out of gas in that spot Friday night, and the battery died trying to start it. She left details with a store manager and Sunday night, when the gas began to flow, they sent a text.
He pulled his truck up, jump-started the car and filled it up for her, also an elder.

I R learn english one day (I drop a lot of conjunctions from the script, bad me). Video sketch of what I've been grousing about here for the last few days.
Helene is an ecological disaster. Doubly so an economic one.
It's painfully obvious how little information is getting out about the catastrophic impacts of #Helene on the southern Appalachians. Please help spread the word. The entire area is devastated. Death tolls in the hundreds and climbing. Tens of thousands of people whose homes and livelihoods have been destroyed.
The impacts will be generational. Share and help, please.
FEMA’s repeatedly told Congress since the beginning of 2023 that its Disaster Relief Fund was inadequate but the House GOP’s budgetary hostage-taking has locked those levels in.
And they’ve been saying they couldn’t get through this hurricane season since June.

📷 Waffle House was open the first 24 hours after #Helene hit but closed when they ran out of food. Supply chains in the area have slowed to a crawl or stopped for many vendors, and there is a domino effect.
Discover many of downballot candidates in Hurricane Helene’s path who are climate hawks and Green New Dealers running against MAGA climate deniers.
This is how we rebuild and build a sustainable future!

“Jewish government officials are being targeted with antisemitic attacks in a misinformation blitz hampering efforts to get critical information out to victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.
“…the subject of an onslaught of antisemitic abuse on the social media platform X.”
🍏 My tomato guy was in Hendersonville at the weekend, visiting farmers to buy produce. It had taken many of them a week or more to get back to their fields and survey the damage, and it was extensive for most, Ethan said.
Still, he had Western NC corn, blackberries and apples on offer today, including this "Mutsu" varietal.
Today marks one month since #Helene blew threw the greater #Asheville area resulting in many deaths, widespread destruction and total loss of some communities due to flooding.
@avlcharlie and others kept us posted then and are still recovering from the storm, day by day.
I asked Charlie which local aid organizations folks anywhere could donate to. Here are links to two, both 501(c)(3) charities.
Pease help if you can. Thank you. ❤️
