Anybody visting #froscon at this weekend?
If interested in #Forgejo #federation I will show what is going on:

If anyone knows of a #fix or workaround for this Codeberg import error preventing me from migrating a project, it would be great to have...

#Forgejo 12.0.2 and 11.0.4 were just released! They are security releases.
We recommend that all installations are upgraded to the latest version as soon as possible.
Check out the release notes and download it at https://forgejo.org/releases/. If you experience any issues with this release, please report to https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues.
On Codeberg and other Forgejo social-coding sites, you can customize your profile using a special repo named:
.profile
If you look at the screen-shots, I show a 'before' and 'after'
Before I create that special .profile repo, you just see a list of my repositories.
After I create that special .profile repo, you see whatever I put in .profile/README.md
See:
https://forgejo.org/docs/latest/user/profile/
And, you can see my .profile repo here:

#Forgejo 13.0.0 was just released!
A new moderation tool is available to report inappropriate user behavior or content that should be looked at by instance administrators. Two factor authentication (TOTP, etc.) can be enforced on the entire instance for all users or instance administrators. Forgejo Actions usability was improved with static checking of workflow files and access to the logs of all run attempts.
Check out the blog post at https://forgejo.org/2025-10-release-v13-0/
#Forgejo 13.0.1 was just released!
We recommend that all installations are upgraded to the latest version. The v13.0.0 release revealed a bug that has been in the codebase for years and caused the corruption of the Forgejo Actions secrets on instances using PostgreSQL.
Check out the release notes and download it at https://forgejo.org/releases/. If you experience any issues with this release, please report to https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues.
Dear #Forgejo admins,
Planning to upgrade to Forgejo v13.0 soon? Join our upgrade party and upgrade together, get help from Forgejo contributors, and get to know the community.
Today, 21 October at 16:00 UTC (18:00 CEST). See https://codeberg.org/forgejo/discussions/issues/402 for details.
Great news: Today, we have managed to distribute our Forgejo instance across two servers. A main instance still handles most traffic, but requests from #CodebergPages are now handled by another server. Going forward, we'll try to route more read-only traffic there to distribute the load.
This is an important milestone, because such a setup was never tested with #Forgejo at this scale.
This should improve availability of both Codeberg.org and Codeberg Pages.
Details: https://codeberg.org/forgejo/discussions/issues/259
Another small step in Forgejo federation.
Getting Forgejo and mastodon services to talk had some unexpected pitfalls.
Mastodon only federates on port 443 for example, that means Forgejo needs to be able to listen on a privileged port even for testing. You can imagine the troubles setting up our e2e tests properly.
This is finally behind us and were now aiming to integrate the test into the automated test suite (with a lot of work already done by @famfo)
Codeberg deployed Forgejo v13.0.0 which now detects Interlisp sources and handles them as text rather than binary files. We thank the developers who implemented the feature, @forgejo and @Codeberg for widening the choice of tools and code forges for hosting Interlisp software.

Looking for CMS advice
Hey Web devs!
Do you have any suggestions, tips, opinions, dos, don’ts about headless CMSes?
I have a growing list of small/mid non-profits and collectives asking for my help to (re)make their website. I totally want to help, but I don’t have much time, especially considering that they generally have little or no funding—I would most definitely point them to @VillageOneCoop, otherwise.
Therefore, I want a super simple and replicable solution where I can copy-paste most of the code, while providing them with a stable, fast, and modern solution. I had a look at the Headless CMS section in the Jamstack website, but I need opinions from people who actually used some of that software already.
Needs
I want to code and configure everything using @eleventy
Admin interface (#WebApp) for the client to add pages and write posts
Static website in the front-end
Simple and reliable CI/CD
No/minimal maintenance after the first setup
Self-hostable (I was taking this for granted so much that I forgot to write it)
If it requires forge integration, it should support #ForgeJo
#OpenSource
Nice to have
Possibly using #Deno, not #NodeJS
Allowing the client to customize a bit their website through the admin interface, with a GUI
CMS app packaged on @yunohost
No CMS vendor lock-in
I’d love to write as little JavaScript as possible
#FreeSoftware
Absolutely not
Front-end #JavaScript frameworks
Please, boost this and ask around! Links to videos, tutorials, and resources are welcome.

TOTP secrets were made more secure. The UI was made more accessible and reworked to improve the UX. Searching users, repositories, releases and issues was improved. Low German (Plattdüütsch) translation was completed. This is the last version to allow a transparent upgrade from Gitea v1.22 or lower.

Hello #Aachen (and nearby areas)! If you're interested in contributing to alternatives of big proprietary platforms (like #Codeberg :D - that being the alternative), I'm organizing a #Forgejo contribution workshop at the @cccac on Sunday, 27.04.2025 (two weeks), starting from 13:00.
(EDIT: Changed the date because I forgot about Easter.)

Bye bye Microsoft/Github, we are excited to finally have our code forge also running on libre/free software, and hosted by a fellow non-profit! Thanks @forgejo and @Codeberg for the amazing work!
The #Forgejo monthly update was published ✨
Ongoing issues with the Matrix chat room were addressed by recreating the room. Users are encouraged to join the new room, as the old room is deprecated. Security updates have been released for versions v11 and v7. Progress continues on the moderation feature funded by @nlnet. Work on federated user activity continues, including the ability to follow Forgejo users from GoToSocial.
Let's package #Forgejo in #Guix?
Estimation of 200+ packages with the current packaging mechanic for #Golang.
It would bring more stems for other packages sharing similar dependencies, in light of https://codeberg.org/guix/guix/pulls/385
