Decided to make my art focus on useful plants for a while, brushing up on several skills to see if I can pull together something both useful and pretty. Need to brush up on my fonts, but not until I finish sketching the pollinator garden.

Sketch of a salsify plant, flower, and seed and a sketch of a maple seedling, alongside text that reads, "Been living off the land a little more this week, gathered a table with several samples to sketch while I listen to nature sounds from the Ozarks. Found and positively identified salsify, one of those veggies we loved back in ye olde days of yore. Collected a sample to take home and sketch, then I cut the greenery off and planted the root before the rains begin. I also gathered seed, planted some, and will save the rest. Might try indoors soon. Bolted stalks were easy to spot above the grass, was glad I went when I did, it was next to a field that was recently mowed, their field was probably next. Found a bunch of maple seedlings, washed them with vinegar and gave to the birds, weaving between the bars of the cage. Made me realize I could grow maple and elm indoors for the birds. Seedlings gently pulled up are doing okay in water, also planted samara.
