Taking a quick break from the set prep to confirm that TYFTH Live 011 will be happening tomorrow (25th) from 19:00 JST.
There's way more going on in the set this time around (using 3 decks here and there), which'll hopefully make up for the false start last week. It's still freeform on the psychedelic side, and pretty dark, even if I'm saving some recent tracks (you know the ones) for the FINRG set.
Did you know citicoline helps with low vagal tone? Yeah, I thought you did! That's why this week's #TYFTG track is seven colors and seven minutes...or, wait, was it two hours?
I'm back in Tokyo for a few days, so that means a weekday TYFTH Live! It'll be happening tomorrow (19th) at 19:30 JST. I've settled on the tracklist and it'll be on the longer side - a three-deck set of goa trance with a bit of NRG.
I've also been tinkering with the studio set for FINRG, as well as sorting out some ideas for 014 (which'll be freeform).
In the meantime, same place as usual for tomorrow's set!

I was asked by Asukarai Matsuri if I wanted to do B2B a few months ago
Upon learning the focus would be on Nu Energy—perhaps coincidentally, I'd been revisiting old UK freeform lately—I quickly accepted the proposal. That night, I dug for tracks with a stronger UK vibe, though I couldn't resist chosing in Re-form - Blackmailer. It nearly shifted the vibe toward darker finrg influences, fortunately, I managed to control its restlessness through various trancy tracks. Also I used his Plastic Sky (nrg), it softened things a bit due to its oldschool trancy melody.
Later, to close to the nu energy theme, I needed to find some classic UK tracks I loved. 'London Helsinki' was an easy choice, but Nanchuan and Midnight took some deliberation. Once I chose Nanchuan, I really wanted to showcase Ephexis's fast and intense side — it's one of my favorite Ephexis tracks and pairs well with Helsinki. The only challenge was finding a comfortable transition into it. Midnight was a track I really liked when listening to Raw Elements. Teis uplift section was a little surprise, and I'm quite satisfied with how I guided the emotional build-up from the latter half into CB.
Closing with Anger Ball — CB fans probably already know what their live set would end with. Including Cyclone would have made this set too long, so Anger Ball took its place. Personally, I've always felt Anger Ball has a distinct uk psychedelic vibe (fittingly released on Nu Energy).

Constantly radiating confidence with its ominous pads and forceful chord progressions, The Brinicle by Cyrez is the western hemisphere's track of the week. (It's great that he's still active, huh? I almost picked a newer one.)

It's hard to choose my best Re-form track, but it's easy to choose one to be my weekly favotite.

Althoughwe're already halfway this week. Grimsoul’s classic 'Synthetic paradise' still can give this week a energetic hit.
Sometimes I try to mix it with Btw's 'Discord'. Just beacuse I think they are similar. I love discord, it's so fragile, beautiful and powerful, hakase mix these well, some parts of Synthetic paradise look same as discord but this track has less melancholy, seems more powerful.
I found grimsoul's mikseri had posted 07ver. (sound same like melancholy ver.), Idk where could freeform diggers look for original version.
But that's obviously not a big prob, we all know that all freeform/NRG producers likely has huge amounts of promo etc.

Let's at least get a track here to start the week off on the right foot - it's a hard one to fit into modern sets, so Starfall is often a standalone track for me these days. A favourite of Zio's, I have some lovely memories of hearing him play this one at Studio Cube:
Standalone tracks are overdue? Okay, full Crurifragium is kind of cheating, but...what, it's still not released? Fine, then! I will share his...Maruuk! This is everything FINRG is about, or at least should be about. Simple but strange sounds overlapping to create a particular unique feeling within the perpetual motion, then taking that feeling further with harmonies. Be careful clicking links in public...this is powerful stuff.
With RX's aggressive track we start this week, it's a classic that can keep your NRG higher.
Maybe the best track of RX, at least now I think it deserves this praise

At the end of this week, Grimsoul back again.
I love Melancholy Overdose, and then Bring the storm absolutely would be my second favorite of Grimsoul. Yes I love all tracks from Melancholy.
Actually most tracks of Camel Digital could get my heart, sometimes I fell they (those uk guys) still lack some of the darkness like what we want in finrg, I'm not a crazy UK style Fan, but some early uk freeform tracks always full of power, and could give me some different experience.
Grimsoul could Combine the sound I wanted to hear in some uk freeform with finrg, Not darker than alek's craziness but still has his personal dark sound.

Something I forgot to mention recently - I finally sorted out the copyright trouble with Proteus' NRGetic Romancer set and it's listenable again. It first went online years ago so this might be the first chance for many to hear it!
I was at Mogra in Akihabara yesterday to finally meet and see @Ri_nergy play for the first time - lovely to hear one of the new generation bring such a well-mixed and selected Finnish/Japanese set to a club in 2024.
Not sure of the whole tracklist, but it ranged from Harder Than You Think to some unreleased Ri-nergy, via Nomic and Astraia. Good going in 40 minutes!
More posts on TYFTH tomorrow, but for now an early TYFTH Live announcement - planning a 'best of 2024' set for Sunday evening, 21:00 JST. Might not be as smooth as usual so I can fit everything in, but there'll be at least a few that haven't been mentioned on TYFTH yet!

I've never heard this track before, based on some details it's a really old lost track.
No doubt a epic NRG, with sick, mad synths and full of darkness atmosphere, some crazy sounds from DJ Rx remind me of his classic, the 'eternal canon' remix.
If I had a complaint, it would be that I couldn't get the track from finrg.

A little different, but I could only use this released version preview
I found the xochitlan version these days and heard it, it's quiter and has a deeper color (perhaps due to the lack of many radical filtered hoover synths, but it gain others).
in the middle part of xochitlan ver, I heard something familiar, like the heavy and violent synths from epilim's rapid fire, it's no doubt everyone who is the member of early finrg crews under Epilim's influence, but it's a suprise, because when I think about similar things the only track from alek in my mind is his Maruuk, influenced by plasma.
and of course, I also checked out the sunray xochitlan version, it's really has a big different from the unfinished forever edit, dirty and nasty distorted sound, very familiar 00's Alek's dark freeform style, I may like this one more than forever edit, it's not mean which one is better, but I really enjoy this darkness feeling.
