One of the best things to witness is seeing someone forget about their Windows partition. :)

Every success story shows that Fedora, and Linux in general, is continuing to push the desktop in the right direction - not only as an alternative to the mainstream options, but to what the desktop should have been all along.

https://www.xda-developers.com/dual-booted-fedora-kde-forgot-windows-installed/

#Fedora #Linux #OpenSource

I'm installing Fedora on my PC now and I'm pleasantly surprised how modern and great the installation process is. And the USB drive live version can even recognize the AMD GPU and output 4K full resolution.

I use Linux every day at work but our IT is just too good so I haven't even gone thru any of these for over a decade!
TIL Fedora is packaging a web browser app I developed for elementary OS and marked as end-of-life over two years ago, yet it happily shows up in Fedora 40 if you search my name.
Friends,
Is there a good kind of course/ guide/ how to for learning how to use the terminal (I'm currently running Fedora Linux) for dummies. No crypic abbreviations, no "run this string of code" and then no further explanation, no assuming I know anything but how to open the terminal. Something that starts with telling me what everything means that I see even when I first open the terminal. How to do the most basic things, before going into the more interesting things. One stept after the other.

Please tell me there is such a thing? I really want to learn.

#Fedora #FedoraLinux #Linux #Terminal

Got Steam installed on Fedora and started playing around a game called Farthest Frontier...

It runs very smoothly! Though only 60fps because that's what Fedora thinks my monitor can do...
So I've attached a USB to serial adapter to my laptop and hooked it up to the user port of my C64. After four lines of BASIC it actually displays a login prompt! How cool is that? Apart from the fact that the encoding is totally broken and the whole thing runs at only 600 baud.

#Commodore64 #RetroComputing #Fedora

I really need a laptop. Anyone have access to surplus, or lightly used equipment left after upgrades, or something in your closet you'd like to see someone use? I can pay a few hundred.
I had a #Thinkpad X1 for years and it ran #Fedora pretty well. At this point that particular model would be a few generations behind, so I am hoping for more ram and something newer for development purposes.
