<p>With <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a>, you can customize how timelines are displayed in the app.<br>For that just open "Main menu > Manage timelines".<br>You will be able to reorder your timelines by moving items. Hide a timeline by tapping on the eye icon. All timelines can be removed excepted default ones that can only be hidden.<br>Also, by tapping on the "+" button at the top right, you will be able to follow remote instances (and also Twitter accounts through <a href="/tags/nitter/" rel="tag">#Nitter</a>). <a href="/tags/fedilabtips/" rel="tag">#FedilabTips</a></p>
<p><a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> supports the quoting mechanism for long with some softwares that introduced it. <br>This option is currently hidden in "Extra features" from Settings.</p><p>We opened it to <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> in timelines (ie: messages containing quotes), but it is not yet possible to post quoted messages with Mastodon.</p><p>Also Mastodon seems to have introduced a degree of privacy. The API returns if the OP accepted to be quoted. <br>Fedilab already supports this privacy parameter by displaying only accepted quotes.</p>
<p>Yes, <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> has some differences between its Google Play version and its <a href="/tags/fdroid/" rel="tag">#FDroid</a> version.<br>There are mostly due to restrictions from Google.</p><p>In the Google app we had to remove:</p><p>- Donation links<br>- Register an account on Mastodon (as they don't want to understand that the app doesn't collect emails). <br>- Filter some search results with <a href="/tags/peertube/" rel="tag">#Peertube</a> to exclude "YouTube Downloader" videos</p><p>To Google users, keep in mind you can easily switch to FDroid, we would be happy to help if you have questions</p>
<p>The privacy tab of <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> might be more for advanced users. But let's introduce it.<br>These settings allow the use of alternative front-ends for most popular social Networks.<br>Let says you never want to visit a X or YT link. <p>Now, we will work on the quoting feature when composing with <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a>. </p><p>- We will allow to set its default value in profile settings: anyone can quote, only followers or no one. </p><p>- When composing, this value could be changed and will be available only for messages having the public or quiet visibility.</p>
<p>With <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a>, you can schedule boosts. As this is still an in-app feature, this is done through your device.</p>
<p><a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> will support <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> quotes. <br>We will proceed to some UI changes to group buttons and make things clearer.</p>
<p><a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> is now ready for the new <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> quote feature.<br>We opened an issue so accounts can manage the default policy for quotes in their profile and Mastodon devs already added it.</p><p>In this process, our main issue was to keep the compatibility of the quote feature that was previously implemented for others software (as they work differently - no policy). <p>By default, <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> supports pronouns. It will display them, next to screen names in timelines but also when replying to a person.<br>For that, Fedilab uses fields (from profiles) and accepts different keys depending on your language.<a href="/tags/fedilabtips/" rel="tag">#FedilabTips</a> </p><p>PS: Don't hesitate to share with us new keys for pronouns in your language.</p>

<p>If you have a lot of filters, the last release of <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> (3.35.1) might have slowed down the app when fetching messages (cache or not).<br>Filters are applied locally and we extended them to quoted messages.<br>We will work on a fix to improve this process.</p>
<p>While this account is mainly dedicated to <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a>, we also build some other apps.<br>Currently, we are working on an app called <a href="/tags/castlab/" rel="tag">#CastLab</a>. We made great improvements on it. This app can be run on Android or iOS </p><p>The goal of this app is to easily cast media from your device to TV or devices supporting apps such Kodi.</p><p>CastLab will be published only on <a href="/tags/fdroid/" rel="tag">#FDroid</a> and no Google services will be involved such a Chromecast support.</p>

It can be really useful for small instances.<br>However, unlike the <a href="/tags/holos/" rel="tag">#Holos</a> app where posts from blocked or muted accounts are filtered out, Fedilab won't be able to apply these filters.</p>
<p>Now that <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> supports quotes, there are three important points to know with <a href="/tags/fedilab/" rel="tag">#Fedilab</a> </p><p>- You can change the default privacy for quoting your messages in Settings>Profile (default anyone can quote you)</p><p>- You can customize this privacy for each message (when composing)</p><p>- If you don't see the merged Boost/Quote button, make sure that you didn't disable it in Settings > Timelines</p>
