<p>Wildfires in Europe are becoming more frequent, more intense, and lasting longer.<br> <br>Between 8 and 25 August, wildfires burned nearly 600,000 hectares in Portugal and Spain alone – a land area over twice the size of Luxembourg.</p><p>We thank 🇨🇿🇩🇪🇫🇮🇫🇷🇬🇷🇮🇹🇲🇹🇳🇱🇷🇴🇸🇪🇸🇰 for supporting Portugal and Spain in their fight against the wildfires that affected both countries.</p><p>We are working hard to anticipate risks and strengthen preparedness.</p><p>The EU is getting ready for anything, anywhere, anytime.</p><p><a href="/tags/eucivilprotection/" rel="tag">#EUCivilProtection</a></p>

<p>🇪🇺 Solidarity reaches Spain 🇪🇸 </p><p>In response to Spain’s devastating floods, the <a href="/tags/eucivilprotection/" rel="tag">#EUCivilProtection</a> Mechanism has been activated, bringing swift aid from across Europe.</p><p>🇫🇷 and 🇵🇹 have mobilised waste management and reconstruction support, already aiding affected areas. <p>Merci 🇫🇷, obrigado 🇵🇹! </p><p><a href="/tags/eusolidarity/" rel="tag">#EUSolidarity</a> means standing together when it matters most. </p><p>After Spain activated the <a href="/tags/eucivilprotection/" rel="tag">#EUCivilProtection</a> Mechanism in response to devastating floods, Portugal and France swiftly stepped in to help. </p><p>🤝 Over 150 team members and 60 vehicles joined forces with Spanish authorities, working tirelessly to clear streets of debris, pump out water and mud, remove vehicles, and transport rubble. </p><p>When we work together, we are stronger.</p>
