This game is far from perfect by damn does it it still make me happy. It just nails so much much in its first go at 3D sonic that they still have not been able to replicate. Also 10/10 soundtrack always slaps. Excited to give the official #Dreamcast DLC for this game

Funny that I had so much nostalgia for this game without understanding one bit what it was actually about game design wise. All I remembered was there was anime like characters and it was a turn-based RPG.
In reality it is a rogue-lite dungeon crawling RPG with a early 2000s anime story attached. If I just say that the story is the "girl is power weapon all along" story your brain can auto complete the rest. With that all said I did enjoy the game-play for what it was. Combat was fun even if slow and had to turn fast-forward on to get through it. Though the depth is kinda lacking as you progress because all the game really becomes is a MP balancing act from battle to battle as you try to get to the last floor of the dungeon. I also feel like they should have cut one of the progression systems and really focused on the other ones. You Gear progression, Level progression, Skill (TP progression), & battle arms (different kind of gear) progression. Just seems spread a little thin without a lot of meat.
Though all in all for what ambition this game has I was really interested in how they went after everything they tried to do. I think that is what I love most about this game is it really has that #Dreamcast magic where people would try all kinds of new things and you never know what you are going to get.
I will make note that you can VERY EASILY soft lock your self in the last area/boss of the game. If you just dont bring the right items you just wont beat the boss which is a real bummer because this could have been fixed with a shop or some minor grinding areas to fix your characters if needed.
I was going to do some post game but to be honest it is just real grindy after looking at it, and have better things I could do. Will eventually give the second game a shot even though I never touched it.
