I saw my friend King sleeping in front of the ATM machines at 7-11 yesterday. I've been feeding this dog for many years. He used to live around the housing complex down the street from me but he migrated down to the 7-11 next to a small restaurant. Whenever I see him outside, I get him a snack. I was telling my wife, imagine life from cookie’s perspective: strangers tell her she’s cute and they love her every five minutes, internet fans root for her, the streets of the world are filled with delicious edible food, even when it’s trash.
like the very high Californian woman once told me when I was walking her: ‘this dog like, totally looks like she has NO TRAUMAAAAAA’

I’m convinced Cookie sprung back to life when she heard there was pizza she hadn’t had yet
Slow ambles with Cookie, who is recovering but still taking it slow. I’m very glad she seems to be responding well to the medication. That gives her a bit more time with us.

After a few restful days, Cookie is back to trying to eat trash on the streets. Probably fitting that she almost went out because of a digestive disorder. Her vet notes say, ‘patient has a history of dietary indiscretion’
Trash is truly her passion no matter what I feed her.
Benny Beagle got his first ever taste of oyster sauce after dinner in the form of some sauce from tonight’s stewed eggplant. I’m pretty sure he’s decided it’s the most delicious thing of all time. Alas, he’s now heartbroken that I told him that was all he gets tonight.

After just 5 weeks at our shelter, Paule was allowed to move to his new home. Nobody at the shelter where he had been before was interested in him because of his past. With us, he proved to be a completely unproblematic dog. So long, Paule! I really enjoyed our walks. You are a great dog!

I was able to get the drugs for her gallbladder compounded into little tiny chicken flavored treats.
Cookie doesn’t have many talents other than looking cute and ‘spitting out every goddamn pill’, ‘eating the pockets of pill pockets and removing the pill’ and ‘ignoring any food that has been contaminated by medicine’

Odin pupdate!
He is now 16 weeks / 4 months old. In a few days he'll have officially lived with us for longer than he did where he was born.
Odin is recovered from his illness, but apparently we live in a real hotspot for it and we've been warned to expect it to recur. He was also very bad and attempted to abscond from a bucket bike while it was moving. We still have one whole dog and one whole bike but hopefully he's learned why that's not a good plan
Odin is a newfoundlander, he is going to get much, much bigger

Hello humans. My name is Commander. | was brought into the White House to live with my dad. Sadly it turned out | was untrainable as a White House dog.
So my dad didn’t shoot me - he gave me a new home with friends. Cause he is a decent human.
In November vote for my dad.
Cookie’s vet just called back with her new test results. Everything she had which was previously 2-5x more than normal (all liver related) have all come back to well within normal. The vet now recommends keeping her on this medication and routine for as long as possible (instead of euthanasia)! There was a moment a few weeks ago when we didn’t know if she’d make it, or what her quality of life would be. She’s really surprised everyone with her will to live well.
