James Van Der Beek died today at age 48, from Stage 3 #colorectalcancer.
In 2019, I was diagnosed with Stage 3B #colorectalcancer, at age 48. Thanks to good medical care, I survived.
This hits VERY close to home for me… if you’re 45 or older, you can get screened for this crappy disease - and maybe you won’t have to go through all the stuff I did:
- 8 rounds of 3 chemo drugs, 2 weeks each
- 32 consecutive days of chemoradiation treatments (pills AND lasers)
- 4 surgeries
- 2 months with a colostomy bag
- 15 CT scans
- 6 MRIs
- 1 month in the hospital
- 2 years of pelvic floor therapy
- 1 medical implant (sacral nerve stimulator)
- Permanent Chemotherapy-induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN)
- Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS)
Did you know that #colorectalcancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed #cancer in the U.S., and the second leading cause of cancer #death?!
