Oh my, how my life changed by just the simple decision to make sure my mornings start with great coffee. Not good coffee, GREAT coffee. In October I got a stovetop (manual) percolator and began the process of perfecting how I make it and grinding which beans. Then by chance I learned of double brew coffee and over the last 2 months I do this almost every day. The coffee is so rich that I now add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and it practically transports me to the living, awake world again. Not being a morning person, this one routine change starts all my days with a smile. And with the necessary fortitude to actually read the news. And do what must be done. And, check in with all my online friends. What a pleasant way to feel centered! #Coffee

When the 12yo is having a rough morning & cannot make herself get out of the car when we pull up to #school, we try our very best to talk it out, and when that doesn't work, we drive away from school & go to a new-to-us used #bookstore & have #coffee & peruse #books for an hour before driving back to school & trying again, this time successfully.
She was 2 1/2 hours late to school.
I'm teaching her that caring for her emotional health is more important than conformity.

These kittens at the cafe were too young for us to visit (still in quarantine). But they seemed to be enjoying themselves, anyway. And I had a nice coffee to peacefully enjoy on the other side of the window.
