She’s turning 18 soon! She still loves to pop out from nowhere and play. On days when we give her Solensia, a jab for her arthritis, she feels so good that she runs around the house screaming and playing. She’s very weird. I love her so much

I had my first cat euthanized 10 years ago, a month after my daughter was born. I had a hard time with the idea of getting another; Chairman Meow was pretty much irreplaceable.

When my daughter was 5, she wanted a cat. My wife helped her look for shelter cats, and they came up with this little meatball.

If I'd rushed to get another cat, we wouldn't have met her. Sugar is definitely the cat for her time and place. #CatsOfMastodon

Looking almost straight down on a senior Siberian Forest cat as she sits upright on a wooden floor in anticipation of tuna treats. She is a small cat, only 6 lbs, and is a tortie, her fur being several shades of brown (and a little gray has crept in over the last few years.) She also has one white whisker.

I went out to feed the neighbor's cats this afternoon. One of his cats, Jack, came over and was clearly trying to talk to me. He was meowing in a very talkative way, and was turning his head left and right, as if he was searching for something.

I realized that he was asking me where's Minime, since they were friends. How could I explain to him that our beloved Minime was gone forever?

It broke my heart again. Cats are so smart and loving. And they grief too.

I think my cat's silly because it will stare at a spot on the wall for hours because there was a fly there earlier.

But there's a farmer's field near where I live that I check for emus every time I drive past it because a couple of times, about four years ago, I saw emus in it. So really, are we all that different?

One of the things I've found useful when working from home is to have a decoy chair in my office. The only problem is you need at least as many decoy chairs as you have cats.
