Ptown - PB ride
PB’s location is so perfect that it’s about 25 miles from Ptown on a bike ride with plenty of hills and amazing ocean views, and provides great energy supply for cyclists (aka coffee and delicious French pastry) so we can ride back to Ptown without bonking 🤣 Beaches are literally a few pedals away.
After a bit over 1000 ft ascending you’ll probably feel a bit tired and the fatigue in legs are getting you and boom a great French bakery is right in front of you. What more can you ask for? 😋
I’ve done this route so many times and still want to do it over and over again. Hardly any automobiles on the back roads in Truro and Wellfleet. And plenty of friendly attention on commercial st in Ptown 🤣

“Daylighting” is a hot topic in street safety. But what is it? And how could Provincetown’s streets benefit from it? #CapeCod #SafeStreets #TrafficCalming #Provincetown @townofpt

Here’s a map that shows the area where the Provincetown Select Board is proposing to ban people from riding bikes but allow people
to drive cars. It encompasses Commercial St through the center of town from the library all the way to the Canteen restaurant. You can read our statement about the proposal and our suggestions for ways to improve safety on the street: https://bikescape.org/pedal-blog/dont-ban-bikes #Provincetown #CapeCod #SafeStreets #traffic #mapoli #bicycle #cycling #BikeTooter
Cruise ship (from Montreal to NYC, stopping at Ptown) fishing boat, lighthouse, and some bears in Provincetown
Needed to make a quick charging stop in Eastham because I forgot to charge to 100% before leaving for Provincetown, and the extra drag from the bike rack made the efficiency worse. Obviously the bike design is not optimized for the aerodynamic when it's sideways 😜
I could charge near Ptown long enough so I can make it home, but 1) Ptown's DC charger is a Tesla supercharger, as much as I don't want give money to Musk, it is also not 800V output, meaning the Taycan only takes around 140-150kw, which is not so much different from the 120kw I can get from this ChargePoint. 2) as I don't drive much, I need to take advantage of the Electrify America free charging when I have the opportunity.
So a quick 9 mins charge from 11% to 22% and we got on the way to the Electrify America in Hyannis. Arrived with 13% SoC and got the free juice to 85%.

Beautiful morning in Provincetown here! Boats are out! Spring has come!
Finally! I visited the elbow of Cape Cod - Chatham!
My first ever 100+ miles solo ride. Mark Pasnik (a new friend I made this weekend!) sent me off at Ptown, and took a lovely photo of me on my bike.
I did ride with two guys - Allen and Jesse from Truro till Wellfleet. It was great while it lasted. Jesse was fast and strong, while Allen pointed out turns and gravel sections. It was a breeze following Jesse's wheel. While we were talking, a stupid squirrel ran across the road, barely missed by front wheel, and got caught between Jess's wheels. Luckily Jesse didn't crash, and we made some jokes out of it. When it was my turn to pull, Jesse was on my wheel, but Allen fell behind. So Jesse stopped in Wellfleet center to wait for him, and I went on my way.
I felt great and strong at mile 24 where PB Boulangerie is, so I decided to just have a gel instead of stopping for coffee / pastry. CCRT was a nice and easy way to cover some distance. I reached the tiny bike path roundabout in no time, and started heading to Chatham. I did feel a bit fatigue going into Chatham center, as there're more hills. But the beautiful Chatham Light and Coast Guard station made up for it. I had half a bar and went my way to my first stop at mile 52 - Three Fins coffee roasters.
It is a new shop and the sitting area is originally a pool. The coffee was great, but the chocolate croissant was disappointing. It was very dry and a little chewy. I didn't finish it, instead I ate the rest of the bar and went on my way, figuring I'd stop by PB Boulangerie on the way back.
Some new pavement in Chatham / Brewster was amazing to ride on. So smooth!
Pretty uneventful all the way to Wellfleet. I saw a cyclist on CCRT with the exact same bike as me - even the same color! I said hi and quickly passed him. I wanted to cover easy distance as quickly as I could. I stayed on the drop as much as I could to save some watts.

134 Miles Boston to Provincetown on the bike!
Great fun, despite all three of us getting punctures. My tubeless setup healed itself within 15 mins or so. My friend wasn't so lucky. It was too big for sealant. Thankfully I have the plug.
It was a very hot day to ride this long. Elsa seemed to be not mentally ready for this ride to be so hard. Fact is no matter how strong you are, you start to suffer at some point. To some people it's around 70-80 miles or even 120 miles. To me it's around 100 miles. But a hotdog really helped :)
A lot of cicadas on the cape! Is this year when they come out partying every 17 years?
