On a snow day the MBTA just failed miserably (for commuters) two rapid transit lines had to shut down with shuttle buses just because of electrical problems at one station.
Single point failure!!!

Brutal morning commute with MBTA red line: delay of 25 mins due to medical emergency at Park St and then a disabled train at Broadway when my train is at Andrew 🙄
Anyone has experience working with an architect? I’m looking to start a renovation but I have no idea what’s the process. And a builder I talked to told me to get an architect to draw up a plan first. He also said he could refer one to me and it’ll likely cost $12k - $15k for the plan.
Is this a reasonable price? It’s a 1500sqft old colonial two story house.
Beautiful day (around 60 F) for biking! Also first time bike commute from Dorchester & in 2024!
Outriders is a terrific century ride from Boston to Provincetown every year (More accurately, 128 miles). If you are a cyclist in Boston area, I highly recommend this ride. There’re plenty of century rides around here, but Outriders feels special.
It has been going strong for 37 years. They’ve seen a decline in registrations lately. Harbor to the Bay ended its 21 years run in 2023. Let’s keep Outriders going, which is the only organized, supported Boston to Ptown ride at the moment.
My south end condo officially sold today. Got the money. But already missing south end.
Now who would like to give me $5M so I can buy a whole brownstone and move back? I don’t mind a sugar daddy 😂

Maybe it makes this rainy cold day better because it’s just such a rare thing
The story about the new air right development on Mass Pike. It’s definitely exciting to see the wound made by car centric city planning tearing up dense urban neighborhoods get healed. To be fair, covering up a freeway doesn’t do anything reducing car dependency or helping with mass public transit. But it does help communities come together.
But do they ever do wind tunnel study about these big buildings? The construction site already creates huge wind tunnel on Mass Ave. there were a few times when I was cycling near there on Mass Ave and got almost blown away.

#Boston - Should you see a lost cosplayer or otaku struggling with our #MBTA system, trying to get to #PAXEast con at 415 Summer St, approach with a soothing voice, saying 'hello comrade geek, the Silver Line is a bus, yet not a bus.'
If they're already at South Station, let them know that they could walk over Summer Street bridge in about the same time as it would take to figure out the Silver Line. The scenery is better, too. https://east.paxsite.com/

Bostonians…… what’s the possible reason why we had almost $500 credit applied to our water bill? This is the first water bill since we bought this house and moved in.
I don’t see anything on closing statement about water bills.

silver lining: it was awfully thoughtful of all these boston college administrations to draw the attention of a group of young, energetic, politically active students to last year's "tent ordinance" that cruelly targets the unhoused and is now being used to crack down on speech
I just noticed on my bike commute today that the oldest surviving house in Boston is actually in Dorchester - The James Blake House, built in 1661.
