Five stars:
Rosie and Michael by Judith Viorst and Lorna Tomei (Illustrations) (1974) is a picture book celebration of a solid, life-long relationship. Rosie and Michael take turns in this book explaining the hows and whys of their friendship. Each of their examples are then illustrated in intricate pen and ink drawings.

by Robert Louis Stevenson.
When our baser urges are allowed to run free, they end up dominating. Disturbing, even if the 'science' is a bit amusing.

Fascinating article that gets at how translation can be a tricky business. The whole meaning can change - and often to the opposite meaning the author intended!

Opinions on whether to add a book to Kindle Unlimited (which makes it Amazon exclusive for at least 90 days), or to keep the option to make it available through other stores during that time?
I'm asking for my new spicy novella, "Seducing Audrey". I already put the complementary short story, "Free Market Audrey", on KU.

On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder is a valuable thing to have by your side in these times of increasing fascism.
Each chapter begins with a short bit of advice as it's title, followed by a sentence or two on it's potential importance. The rest of the chapter provides concrete historical examples.
Each chapter is short, and the book is only 126 pages. Possibly the most valuable thing that you could ever read.
I'm going to be posting the first page of each chapter, because of how important I think it is to share these ideas. Please boost if you feel them useful.
My all-time best selling romance audiobook is...
Taken by the Mountain Man, by Kelsie Calloway, which I narrated as Eden Cavell.
A divorced single mom starting over in a small mountain town takes a shot at a second chance at love with her brother's hot best friend.
It's a big-hearted romance that is also super hot, with a female lead who's not afraid to go after what she wants, and the kind of hunky mountain man she absolutely deserves.
Translation: I get to play Yet Another Mountain Man in this audiobook! (There are a few in my catalogue.)
If you like second chance romance, sizzling sex scenes or happily ever afters, this is the audiobook for you.
It's available as an audiobook and also as an ebook.
I can't say I've done this personally, but I understand the sentiment 😁

We'll Prescribe You a Cat by Syou Ishida, E. Madison Shimoda (Translator) (2023) is a collection of interrelated stories about people who find themselves at an unusual health clinic when they are at their wits end. Instead of counseling they are sent home with a cat, gear, and care instructions.
Who is that, so insistently tapping at my chamber door?

This week's #NewBooks at the library: I bought second-hand copies of
- From Crust to Core: A Chronicle of Deep Carbon Science, published by Cambridge University Press;
- Confronting Consumption, published by @themitpress (this copy was in the holdings of the library of The American University of Paris);
- Cohabiting Earth: Seeking a Bright Future for All Life, published the State University of New York Press (I was really impressed by Eileen Crist's most recent book).

The Letter, the Witch, and the Ring by John Bellairs and Richard Egielski (Illustrator) (1976) is the third book in the Lewis Barnavelt series. While Lewis is at summer camp, Rose Rita and Mrs. Zimmerman go on a road trip to upper Michigan and run afoul of evil magic.

I've finished: The Siege of Burning Grass by Premee Mohamed
The Siege of Burning Grass has an interesting premise: It offers us the pacifist option for resistance against a fascist regime during a brutal war.
A very relevant subject in 2025.
Sadly the protagonist needs a hell of allot of narrative armor to live through many of the situations he faces.

Lizard Music by Daniel Pinkwater (1976) is a short science fiction involving lizards, an ever present Chicken Man, and pod people. Victor, left home alone for about a month while his parents are on vacation at an adults only resort and his sister is up in the mountains with friends, begins to see strange coincidences around him that just can't be ignored.
