These Japanese versions of The Little Shop of Nightmares are truly kawaii 🩷 Unlike in other countries, where illustrator is Teemu Juhani, the illustrations in the Japanese books have been "translated" as well to better fit the Japanese market.

I've finished: The Scarab Path by Adrian Tchaikovsky
I had given up on Shadow of the Aprt after Salute the Dark. It felt like it was supposed to end there and I wasn't interested in reading more about war, strategy and tactics.
Now, more than two years later I decided to give the series another chance. To my surprise, I couldn't put The Scarab Path down.
The war aspect is sidelined in favor of the survivors stories, as they deal with their grief, trauma and injuries.
While the prospect of renewed hostilities hovers over the novel, the main story revolves around the mystery that lies at the center of the ancient city of Khanaphes, revealing more about the history of the world and it's two separate aspects: The Art & The Apt.
My only issue is that I hate the love triangle with Chay at it's center and can't stomach the fact that the Gestapo Fascist is the one who gets a redemption arc.

finished reading The Mars House 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
by Natasha Pulley.
A sci-fi romance set on Mars, where recent refugees from climate-riven Earth are so strong in the low gravity that they are a mortal accidental risk to Martians. Excellent premise, and the contradictory reactions of the protagonist feel real & difficult. But some of the underlying science is dubious (MW ≠ MWh!!!), the romance had potential but felt a bit weak and the ending used up its momentum too soon. Mammoths!

I got this book on Saturday and am almost done with it even though it's 450 pages long. I just love his writing style and imaginative fantasy world. There's an extremely complex mystery that's also fun to try to figure out. Highly recommend this series if that's your thing, this is book 2. "The Worm In The Apple" by John Cheever (1958) wasn't published in the New Yorker. Instead it was written as an introductory story to his first collection of short stories, The Housebreaker of Shady Hill and Other Stories published by Harper and Brothers in 1958. It is also included in The Stories of John Cheever published in 1978, which is where I read it.
