Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng- by Kylie Lee Baker is fucking brilliant. I still have 3 chapters left, but I am on the edge of my seat. The writing is very well done. The story line is phenomenal even as it is disturbing. Trigger warnings for racism, hate crimes, gore, violence. It's a definite 5 star read for me thus far.

Hey, it's Friday! Mr. Lisa and I are going to get mani/pedis tomorrow (Saturday), and then it's asparagus season so a local library is doing a poetry event with asparagus as the theme called Ode to Asparagus. Also, probably some gardening if the weather holds.
What are you doing this weekend?

My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, and spectacular #horror #books far and wide.
THE BUFFALO HUNTER HUNTER is both a stunning, unique epistolary novel and a subversive, sly nod to the most famous one. Stephen Graham Jones again shows his mastery as a storyteller by crafting a genuine modern Classic filled with Horror, Tragedy, Truth, and Blood. It should be required reading.

What better time to try and promote horror than on Monday morning?
Human Nature and Other Stories is available now through most outlets if you want some of the good horror, the fake stuff, as opposed to the weird Stephen King novel we all seem to have fallen into lately. Horror so Scottish it should be deep fried.

I’m looking for a sensitivy/authenticity reader. And it’s been super hard to find someone that fits the requirements:
1) Spanish-fluency
2) Mexican heritage
3) Female
4) Familiarity with gothic literature (a fan is even better)
5) Open to reading potentially traumatic (but not graphic) situations
I’m looking for someone who does this for a living (so does invoices, contracts, and has experience with this kind of reading).
