Started The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J. K. Rowling. Have never been much interested in these in-universe books of Harry Potter, but kid got it from school library so thought might as well read it.
Also reading Sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski. Book 2 of The Witcher series.

Mars was a distant shore, and the men spread upon it in waves. Each wave different, and each wave stronger.
Ray Bradbury is a storyteller without peer, a poet of the possible, and, indisputably, one of America’s most beloved authors. The Mars he imagines in these masterful chronicles is a place...

Kai is a powerful demon who awakens outside of his human body to find he’s been trapped unconscious in a tomb for over a year. His long-time friends are also missing. He has to figure out who has done this, and why. The story alternates between this “present" timeline, and a "past” timeline that starts with him as a young demon in his newly-gifted human body. Wells has a real knack for creating worlds with interesting rules (far from the cookie cutter tropes of some fantasy), and then exploring the boundaries of those rules. I enjoyed it, but also felt like there was an odd detachment to the story - like there wasn’t a lot of emotional attachment to the characters. As an aside, Wells has a penchant for making subtle or not-so-subtle commentary on our society and the prejudices in it. As examples in this one, demons are referred to by the gender of their demon selves, not the gender of the body they’re in. Some societies have gender neutral clothing, but where it’s gendered it’s the men who wear skirts and women who wear pants. One culture is referred to as confusing because they stick to two genders.

#OTD in 1713. Denis Diderot was born. He was "a French philosopher, art critic, and writer, best known for serving as co-founder, chief editor, and contributor to the Encyclopédie along with Jean le Rond d'Alembert. He was a prominent figure during the Age of Enlightenment."

From PEN America:
"Nearly 12,000 (11,982) books were banned in public schools during the 2025-2026 school year... impacting the creative works of over 4,000 authors, illustrators and translators. Over 4,500 of these were titles not previously recorded in PEN America’s Index of School Book Bans, the most new titles added to the index in a single year, illustrating the continued expansion of the book banning crisis."
"This year, another notable trend has been the role of AI in accelerating book bans."
"A third trend this school year is the pervasive banning of graphic novels, specifically manga titles."

A Clockwork Orange - A book that has been frequently challenged, restricted, and banned in various schools, libraries, and local jurisdictions, particularly in the United States.
Here's my review on the book 👇🏽
They told me I wouldn’t make it. That my pain would define me.
I wrote “The Purple Success” in the middle of my breaking point - not after I healed, but WHILE I was still bleeding.
This book is not about positive quotes. It’s about the ugly, real moment when you have two choices: stay weak, or turn your struggle into your power.
From Weakness to Strength. From Struggle to Success.
If you are right now in that dark place where I was - this book is for you. I wrote it for you.

That was fantastic. Warm and cozy, with just enough action to remind you this is a fantasy story. I appreciate how it manages to incorporate modern-world ideas without making them feel so out-of-place. A new favourite book.
