A wonderful story about aging, loss and above all that at every age there is something to be gained from life. All wrapped up in a journey on foot through the Scottish highlands.

Very interesting to read about WWII in SE-Asia from the perspective of Malaysians. Although there is plenty of sadness in the book, it still reads effortless.

Another great story by GGK. There were a few parts that felt hard to follow for me, but overall I was dragged right into Fionavar.

The more I kept reading the more I got into it. Just a nice story.
Rated Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster 10/10
I knew I was going to rate this book very highly. I knew a fair bit of the 1996 Everest disaster before reading this. Even though I’ve never done any mountaineering, this book has made me think about it a lot during the days I was reading it. I also watched a lot of YT videos about mountaineering and ascents/descents of various of the tallest peaks.
Doing a proper trek - not climbing anything tall - in Nepal/Pakistan has become a stronger urge.
Rated Política en escala de do: Interconexiones entre la música y la política (Spanish Edition) 6/10
Rated Different: Escaping the Competitive Herd 8/10
Rated The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change 8/10
The biggest strength of this book is that it ties so many factors and industries together into one compelling argument about the direction of civilization and the effects of excessive consumption and pollution. The biggest flaw, albeit an almost unpreventable one, is the sheer amount of data and supporting evidence it presents.

Given the author, any argument made without enormous supporting evidence will be dismissed by many as political posturing. Of course, many will dismiss it as such anyway, as unfortunate as that may be. But so much data and information makes for a cumbersome read, and such slowness detracts from the argument's effectiveness. Too bad, because the information presented, the challenges highlighted, and the solutions presented are all important and well considered.

I definitely recommend it to people of any political persuasion as an assessment of where we currently stand and as a means of furthering a constructive dialogue. Sadly, I believe the people who most need to read it (those who get their information from social media or television) will be unwilling to make the required effort.
