Dit boek is in de prijzen gevallen en kreeg lovende recensie. Het is niet echt mijn cup of tea. Toen de hoofdrolspeler honderd bladzijdes lang in conversatie was met zijn zelfrijdende auto, was ik geneigd mij portie aan Fikkie te geven. Het is dat dit aan het einde van het verhaal gebeurde. Dus ik heb doorgezet tot de laatste bladzijde.<br/>Het boek speelt zich af in de nabije toekomst. Een tijd waarin mensen zich vervelen omdat er een basisloon voor iedereen is ingevoerd. Een tijd met zelfrijdende auto's die kunnen praten maar zich ook gewillig aanbieden om oudere mannen te bevredigen. <br/>Soms was het boek best grappig maar ik ben geen surrealisme liefhebber. Het werd mij allemaal een beetje te gek af en toe. Vandaar twee sterren. Op naar een iets realistischer boek nu.

<div>At first, I wasn't 100% sure this was as amazing as the previous War Master sets of stories — yes, everything was still really good, but I wondered if it would have that OMG factor that previous stories had. Then things really kick off in the third story and I was 1000% IN.<br><br>Also fun to watch him poke at the Tenth Doctor in the last story, since it's so easy for him to do.&nbsp; And Abigail Thaw is in this, and I enjoy her on the show Endeavour.</div>

You know, this was surprisingly good for what is the YA book adaptation of an X-Files episode. The writing at the end feels a bit rushed, and not nearly enough characterization time is spent with Scully compared to Mulder, but it's overall not bad.
