Liu's intentional focus on material realities and call to structural analysis that frames our reality in terms of actionable discourse that subverts mainstream moral pandering that has enmeshed itself with even common-day rhetoric is a necessary one.
The conditions affecting the working class are not solely the doings of the uber-wealthy; we have close proximities to the actors that shape our lives and personal interiority, and they have more immediate detrimental effects and greater lasting impacts. The PMC does not get enough actionable critique (modern liberal discourse refuses this of anything it encounters) mainly due to their occupancy in the public sector that purports a rhetoric of the common good, and Liu does it in a compelling manner.
Her call to use the systems as places to engage and learn to construct working-class ideas and break through the noise with whatever privilege we have in whatever context we share is necessary. We are just as much working on the system as we are working for it. But the resistance and rage must be channeled first inward and then externalized: a deliberation with ourselves as voyeurs of empire and the masters of its destruction.
