‘Trickle down feminism’ doesn't work, shows Dawn Foster in this clever, short book. People like Sheryl Sandberg (‘Lean in’), Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher may have had positions of leadership, but as part of the 1%, they did not help the feminist case. More meaningful feminism, Foster proposes. is to lean out and effectively fight the systems that hurt the poor.
Rated The People Vs Tech: How the Internet Is Killing Democracy 10/10
There's a lot of recent publications about how technology (and especially technology from Silicon Valley) impacts society. I liked ‘People vs Tech’, because it is very to the point and compact. It looks at tech from a political sciences point of view and is full of sharp observations. It paints a gloomy picture of what may lie ahead of us, but also provides ideas to help avoid catastrophe (some more original than others).

Rated The Good Immigrant 8/10
Great collection of essays written by (children of) immigrants into the UK. Articulates well what it is like to live between cultures, prove yourself more than others have to and tiringly deal with what's essentially a misguided lack of trust. Witty, funny and moving stories, some appealed more to me than others, overall an excellent read.
