The family trauma that pervades THE DAY OF THE DOOR is horrifying, but coupled w the intensely creepy events that occur, this story encapsulates HORROR in a masterful, terrifying way. Uiteindelijk is Lázár voor mij een flinke teleurstelling. zeker gezien de hype. Het begon sterk en veelbelovend maar dat niveau weet Biedermann niet vast te houden. Hoe verder het verhaal vordert hoe meer het afzakt naar een bedenkelijk niveau. De grote geschiedenis van de 20e eeuw wordt er soms met de haren bijgesleept maar tegelijkertijd voelen de personages van bordkarton, er is geen diepte, geen logica, geen gevoel in hun acties. <br/><br/>Daarnaast de talloze opzetjes en beschrijvingen die voordat ze goed en wel zijn begonnen alweer door de schrijver zijn laten vallen. Jammer, want de potentie is er wel. Al met al voelt meer als een grote historische roman voor iemand die nog nooit een grote historische roman heeft gelezen.
