Closing out #BlackHistoryMonth with some unpopular, yet factual opinions.
*Everyone focuses on MLK. But truly, Malcolm Shabazz X was the one. The true visionary.
*WEB Dubois was not a revolutionary. He was for maintaining white status quo that left Black people to figure it out for themselves.
*We do not discuss Betty Hill enough, whose activism single-handedly kept white racism and segregation from infiltrating the free state of California, specifically Los Angeles, in the early 1900s.
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
Day 23
Q: Not everything is racism! E.g. Black folk die young because of high BMI from their bad diets! That's on y'all! Don't hate on Lululemon leggings or khaki pants! Hate yourself! We're only trying to help you! How is this racism?
A: Black people in the UK have higher BMI than white people, and live *longer* than white people.🙂🙃
BMI is racist, and used to justify racism.

This concludes #BlackHistoryMonth
"At a time when Black people faced legalized discrimination and inequities in healthcare systems across the nation, Dr. Lula Belle Stewart-Robinson treated Black children in her home on #Detroit’s west side."

To coincide with #BlackHistoryMonth, we have named our three galleries to honour the Mothers of Gynaecology. From now on, these galleries will be known as Anarcha's Gallery, Betsey's Gallery, and Lucy's Gallery.
#OnThisDay in 1942, the first African American fighter pilots in the U.S. military, known as the Tuskegee Airmen, began their training, breaking barriers in the skies. WTVI’s documentary "Airmen and Adversity" shares their story in their own words, highlighting both their triumphs abroad and the racism they faced upon returning home.
Listen as Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson, one of the Tuskegee Airmen in the 332nd Fighter Group, reflects: https://americanarchive.org/catalog/cpb-aacip-526-xd0qr4q07h

We white folks have a responsibility, y'all: to celebrate the absolute hell out of #BlackHistoryMonth -- every year, but this year more than ever as a can't-miss-it sign of our rebellion against this illegitimate fascist government.
Today is the first day of Black History Month here in the US. Right as we're watching our government begin the erasure of minorities out of existence.

These attempts won't work as long as we commit to standing up for each other and lifting up marginalized voices.

Today is the start of #BlackHistoryMonth in the US. It is also the anniversary of #OtD 1 Feb 1960 in Greensboro, NC, when four Black college students refused to move from a Woolworth's lunch counter after they were denied service https://stories.workingclasshistory.com/article/10962/greensboro-civil-rights-sit-ins
So. Yesterday was the day legendary Auntie #OctaviaButler wrote in #ParableOfTheSower that her characters home caught on fire: The first of many due to climate change as a direct result of a leader who used the slogan “Make America Great Again” to gain power. February 1st, 2025.
Her grave, inside the fire line of the #EatonFire, was lightly singed in the fire she predicted down to a 3 week accuracy. Ahead of her time.
I feel compelled to take a short drive.
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !

Do you know that in the US, a Black 11 year old is *10 times* more likely to die by drowning, than a white child?
In a nation that ignores racism, folk believe that this is because Black folk "Don't swim well."🤦🏿♂️
No.
Black kids drown because of racism, not race.
Happy #blackhistorymonth , #startrek nerds.
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
Feb 5: Abraham Lincoln
Q: Why do so many Black folk call Abraham Lincoln a white supremacist? He freed the slaves! Why don't Black folk have pictures of Lincoln up in their house? Are they ungrateful?
Please read the whole linked thread before you voice your disbelief.

Marvin Gilmore
100 yrs old
On June 6 1944 #DDay his all #Black antiaircraft artillery battalion stormed the beaches of #Normandy
“War is gruesome. And I think most soldiers who came back, we don’t talk about it. We really don’t. It’s just, it’s beyond, it’s just beyond your imagination"
His grandparents were born into #slavery
He cofounded the first Black owned and operated commercial #bank in #NewEngland:
They denied him a home loan
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
Feb 9:
Q: Why do Black kids not do well in school? Is it because their dads are uninvolved and uncaring parents? Bill Cosby and Herschel Walker told me that, and they are good and wise men that we should listen to! It's Black dads' fault!

Non #Americans: Tuskegee Airmen were #Black fighter and bomber pilots in #WWII. The Tuskegee Airmen lost significantly fewer escorted bombers than other fighter groups
Lt. Col Stewart earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, downing 3 German aircraft in a dogfight on April 1, 1945
He was born on the 4th of July, 1924: can't get more #American than that!
Happy #BlackHistoryMonth !
Feb 10:
Q: Why are Black people in the US so much more likely to die in traffic accidents than white people? Are Black folk more likely to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI)? Is it street racing? Are y'all just bad drivers?
A: Hmm. I'm stumped! No one knows the answer to why this happens! Just kidding. It's racism. It's always racism.
