Every so often I come across a close-up photo of a Jackdaw that reminds me of this verse:
Thrice happy bird! I too have seen
Much of the vanities of men;
And sick of having seen ’em,
Would cheerfully these limbs resign
For such a pair of wings as thine,
And such a head between ’em.
How's this for a first encounter after leaving my house this morning! She's a Harris Hawk, named Athena, employed by my local brewery to scare away the nuisance gulls.
