A gentle 70km this morning with my mate, Paul, who is recovering from the lurgy. His coughing and spluttering eased in the second half of the ride. It was great to give Peadar its first longer ride of the year. What a bike it is to ride, super responsive. #BikeToot #BikeTooter #PinarelloMarvel #Pinarello #Cycling #TreeInBlossom #PeadarThePinarello #OutsideIsfree #FromWhereIRide

Someone was playing saxophone by Neponset trail. Was he the target of a recent 311 complaint about someone playing saxophone (near Adams & King playground in Dorchester)? 😅
A driver almost ran over a construction worker on Mass Ave near Symphony who was directing traffic, while four cyclists waiting patiently in the bike lane. Everyone was yelling at the driver.
And I was told bike lanes were the problem?
Col de la Madone! One climb on my list checked!
Nice area is seriously a cycling heaven. The weather was perfect today. The 1500 ft climb from Nice through Eze is a little appetizer for the Madone, but the view was breathtaking. Menton is a bustling seaside town with beach goers. From there, just a few blocks, I was on an 8+ mile journey of climbing 3000 feet from sea level. It is the biggest climb I've done. There were a few cyclists trying to talk with me but I couldn't understand what they were saying LOL.
After a speedy descent from the Madone to Peille, I had lunch at Le p'tit gourmet. Peille is a really quiet town on the mountain. The daube was delicious and very satisfying. From there it was almost all the way down to Nice. That was probably the easiest 20 miles I've ever done.
I'm sure I'll come back!

First Blue hills climb in 2025
Such a beautiful day ❤️

Weather today is just absolute amazing so I stopped working at 4pm and went out for a ride! 27 miles with weighted average power at 179 watts - not too bad considering I was beating myself up on the trainer last weekend!
And love my new Heavy Pedal kit!
Desperately needed this huge dose of dopamine!
Folks, something to remember about me:
The biggest ego boost is asking me if I am riding an electric bike or I'm just really strong, while you're on an electric bike riding along.
I think it's the sourdough toast I had in the morning.
Had a tour on the bike around the city after work today. What a beautiful day and I love my city (when weather is nice) 🤣
Esplanade, Boylston St, Leather District
That made me think - Bay Village is the smallest neighborhood in Boston but it feels like Leather District is even smaller!
71 miles ride today. Beautiful weather, a bit chilly in the morning, but it was great because we didn't plan any water or food stop until 48 miles. If it were hotter, I'd run out of water way before that.
Sterling is cute for the little lamb statue, they say:
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
This ride is kinda easy for me because when I ride at zone 2, I need to wait for my cycling buddy all the time. Well zone 2 ride still has its benefits.

100+km (65 miles) ride today. A ton of cyclists! Beautiful weather! But I did get sunburn a little and felt overheated for the last 15 miles or so.
Also a very hard ride! Averaged 18.4mph with almost 3000 ft elevation gain. Two guys are very speedy and strong but thankfully I was able to keep up most of the time. We swung by Rhode Island too :)
Another day climbing up Blue Hills (actually yesterday)! It's the only hill that is reasonably steep and long enough to get some workout in. The Strava segment is 0.83 miles with 416ft elevation gain, average 9.4% grade. Only ~8 mins of suffering.
Got more nutrition (mostly carb LOL) for long rides. Hope they taste good (not bad at least)… I had two occasions when I bonked and it didn't feel good, so I always bring more than I need.
What do you do to keep yourself fueled on long rides?
New wheelset, new waxed chain, new bar tape, new brake pads, new tires (30mm now vs 28mm)
It feels awesome and looks awesome. The Enve inner drive free hub is loud, and I swapped the 60 teeth ratchet to 90 teeth, which makes higher pitch noise. I still need to get used to it, but good thing is that runners and pedestrians can hear me approaching 🤪 if they're not wearing headphones...
Quick 10 miles spin along Neponset River.

Finally! I visited the elbow of Cape Cod - Chatham!
My first ever 100+ miles solo ride. Mark Pasnik (a new friend I made this weekend!) sent me off at Ptown, and took a lovely photo of me on my bike.
I did ride with two guys - Allen and Jesse from Truro till Wellfleet. It was great while it lasted. Jesse was fast and strong, while Allen pointed out turns and gravel sections. It was a breeze following Jesse's wheel. While we were talking, a stupid squirrel ran across the road, barely missed by front wheel, and got caught between Jess's wheels. Luckily Jesse didn't crash, and we made some jokes out of it. When it was my turn to pull, Jesse was on my wheel, but Allen fell behind. So Jesse stopped in Wellfleet center to wait for him, and I went on my way.
I felt great and strong at mile 24 where PB Boulangerie is, so I decided to just have a gel instead of stopping for coffee / pastry. CCRT was a nice and easy way to cover some distance. I reached the tiny bike path roundabout in no time, and started heading to Chatham. I did feel a bit fatigue going into Chatham center, as there're more hills. But the beautiful Chatham Light and Coast Guard station made up for it. I had half a bar and went my way to my first stop at mile 52 - Three Fins coffee roasters.
It is a new shop and the sitting area is originally a pool. The coffee was great, but the chocolate croissant was disappointing. It was very dry and a little chewy. I didn't finish it, instead I ate the rest of the bar and went on my way, figuring I'd stop by PB Boulangerie on the way back.
Some new pavement in Chatham / Brewster was amazing to ride on. So smooth!
Pretty uneventful all the way to Wellfleet. I saw a cyclist on CCRT with the exact same bike as me - even the same color! I said hi and quickly passed him. I wanted to cover easy distance as quickly as I could. I stayed on the drop as much as I could to save some watts.

I seriously hurt some bro's ego yesterday on the way back from my spontaneous ride to Lexington. I had my commute bike (it's actually a gravel bike) with a backpack rack, my work backpack, and big heavy puncture proof tires. And I was in civilized clothes. Heavy and not aero at all.
Some bros on Mass Ave were riding aggressively and fast, I figured I would try to see if I could keep up with them. I had never followed them closely to draft behind them by keeping at least 3 feet away, sometimes dropping further behind. But after half a mile or a mile or so, the bro realized I was still keeping up (he looked back), and he decided to blow up on Mass Ave during rush hour between Alewife and Porter, and blew past a red light. He almost got hit by a car, it was nerve wrecking even to watch, and he got yelled at by his buddy. I realized he was doing very aggressive and dangerous things so I let them go.
Hilariously I caught them up at Mass Ave Bridge inbound 😂 he was struggling on the inbound ascend and I could hear him talking with his buddy about me being as surprisingly fast as them, and what the hell they were doing 😂 then they continued to ride aggressively, just to be stopped by cars all the time. And he took a long time to clip in. He took the traffic lane instead of bike lane, which was fine, but his buddy almost ran into the concrete barrier following him and had to unclip and slow down. Thank god they took the Southwest corridor at Mass Ave T station so I didn't have to witness some dumbass behaviors.
Maybe they're too young to realize their life is more important than their ego? 😂😂😂
Happy Pride ride on Sunday! 110k nicely done with a great group. Though I put the hammer down and increased the tempo, and went solo for the last 16k or so because legs felt good even though I just got over a cold. The ride leader just did B2VT so he wasn't pulling. I pulled the whole group for most of the time. Gay power!
My helmet hair is getting out of control! Need a haircut!
Beautiful day!
So... The mechanic found there's a crack on the top tube of my gravel bike which I had thought to be some paint scratches...
Hot Tubes (a carbon repair specialist) quotes me $550 to repair and $350 to match the paint. Additionally my mechanic quoted me $400 to disassemble and rebuild the bike because Hot Tubes doesn't do that...
Trek would replace the frame with 20% discount so this is a $2600 frame. Even with the discount it'll still be expensive than repairing it ($1300 in total).
I've never wanted a titanium bike so bad in my life 🙄
134 Miles Boston to Provincetown on the bike!
Great fun, despite all three of us getting punctures. My tubeless setup healed itself within 15 mins or so. My friend wasn't so lucky. It was too big for sealant. Thankfully I have the plug.
It was a very hot day to ride this long. Elsa seemed to be not mentally ready for this ride to be so hard. Fact is no matter how strong you are, you start to suffer at some point. To some people it's around 70-80 miles or even 120 miles. To me it's around 100 miles. But a hotdog really helped :)
A lot of cicadas on the cape! Is this year when they come out partying every 17 years?

If you're curious how beautiful Dorchester bay is at 5:30am in the summer......
Too bad you can only see this view from or next to a 6 lane stroad that gets flooded every so often.

Nothing to see here, just a shirtless dude vibing on the bike 🤣
Met him on our ride from Boston to Portland (Maine). He was riding in NH to a lighthouse. We invited him to ride with us to Portland but he said he had no shirt on him. 🤣🤣🤣
