Watch live: #Artemis II launch
The first launch opportunity for Artemis II, the first mission to bring astronauts towards the #Moon in over 50 years, is set for 1 April at 18:24 local time (2 April at 00:24 CEST).
Tune in from one hour before launch at 22:24 BST / 23:24 CEST on #ESA Web TV to watch the launch.

Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman took this picture of Earth from the Orion spacecraft after completing the translunar injection burn. There are two auroras (top right & bottom left) and zodiacal light (bottom right) is visible as the Earth eclipses the Sun.

Yet another #Artemis II article (from a French press agency, no less) ignoring that propulsion, power, & life support to the Orion capsule are provided by ESA’s European Service Module.
Built in Bremen by Airbus, with parts from all over Europe, e.g. solar wings made in Leiden.
Also no mention of the fact that the ESM’s for the Moon-landing Artemis IV & V missions are to be supplied as part of ESA’s contribution to the Lunar Gateway.
Which NASA cancelled last week.
It’s humanity’s first flight to the #moon since 1972.
In a throwback to Apollo, NASA’s #ArtemisII mission will send 4 astronauts on a lunar fly-around. They’ll hurtle several thousand miles beyond the moon, hang a U-turn & then come straight back. No circling around the moon, no stopping for a moonwalk — just a quick out-&-back lasting less than 10 days.

Watching the Artemis II launch and won’t lie. Trying to not remember my 3rd grade class watching Challenger.
Who else is watching the Artemis II launch tonight?
It never gets old seeing what humanity can do with math and science while we continue to battle against our base instincts down here on Earth.
The crew of Apollo 17 took this photo 19,473 days ago.
If all goes well, we should have a new one in six days' time.
So as of yesterday I am retired, had a 37+ year career working in #NASA human spaceflight, Space Shuttle and then the #Orion spacecraft. I set my retirement date in the hope that the #Artemis 2 mission, Orion’s first crewed flight, would have completed by then but Feb launch was delayed and by “cosmic coincidence” Artemis 2 finally launched yesterday - my final day. Very proud of all my colleagues and all the hard work we’ve done to get to this point. Onward to the #moon - and beyond. Ad astra.
Just a few days left before we finally go back!
Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen are launching on April 1st from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida
Liftoff is set for 6:24 p.m. EDT (2224 GMT)
I for one can't wait!

Today we're sending the first black person & the first woman to the moon.
But I know that Dr. Mae Jemson was the first black woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992.

Also, Jemson became the first real-life astronaut to appear on #StarTrek
Here's Jemson as Lt. Palmer in #StarTrekTNG episode Second Chances talking to Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Lt. Uhura, outside the set.

Larks they were in lift-off, swallows in soaring.
Soaring metal is flight and nest together…

Artemis flight has some tough deprivations ahead. Here's to a successful trip. Also enjoying the fact I get to pull out all my space memes.
