A small, sparrow-like bird with a red eye, oddly long, spindly legs, and no tail stands on top of a small, rocky promontory. The way it's standing is more like how a person would stand. The bird is mostly black, silhouetted against a blazing yellow and orange sky. It has highlights of iridescent green. The strangest thing is that it has a clockwork key sticking out of its back and a glowing white halo over its head.

Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh was born #OTD in 1853.

During his short and tumultuous life, van Gogh produced a vast body of work, including over 2,000 paintings, drawings, and sketches. Some of his most famous paintings include "The Starry Night," "Sunflowers," and "Irises." His art often reflects his emotional struggles, including his battles with mental illness and feelings of isolation.
